Back in April/May of this year I picked up two 4x5 enlargers with the intent of setting up a darkroom again. The enlargers have been sitting on a workbench in my basement since I restored them ( D5 and D5500 ). Now that it's getting dark early around here, I covered all the worst offenders for stray light and decided to give it a go while they are still on the workbench. I used the D5 with the Pro-Lab condenser head on it ( also have a color head for it ). All in all pleased that it worked. What light leaks I do have did not seem to impact much. One of the prints I did the paper got underneath the guide of my borderless easel, it was still pure white when processed.

I found a few 35mm images to try things out with. For the D5, I also have a working CS-25 timer/exposure meter. I got it partly dialed in to the box of paper I have now, need to play with that more.

I used some Ilford MGRC paper and Eco-Pro chemicals. Until a real darkroom is set up, I think this is working good enough for B&W. Too much glow to do color.

It's like riding a bike...one never forgets how to fall off.

Have fun!

The hard part is getting set up and starting.

A D5 and a D5500 are much better than the bikes I started on!
Well done - enjoy yourself!
