First test with carbon transfer.. why is this happening?

Howdy,
Not sure if this thread is still active but if it is could I have a little guidance please on coating thickness?
I have magnetic strip of around 1mm but after pouring it just looked way too think and I suppose I thought it would take forever to dry (Melbourne winter) so I scraped off and repoured it much thinner.
I`m beginning to think I made a mistake as my initial tests are just not happening.
Is there a minimum thickness or is the 1mm the minimum?

What do you mean by "just not happening"? A wet height of .75 - 1mm is just fine. Thicker tissue is not necessary and can introduce other problems. For the sake of consistency, I would suggest calculating the volume of glop required for a specific wet height, especially if you are using a rod when coating the tissue.

Apologies if I was economical with my words, it was late last night when I posted the question.

I think you have really both answered my question. The background to this was that when I made up my first batch of goop, I coated using 1mm magnetic strip as guidance. Picking up the semi dried Yupo sheet after coating, an elephant of doubt wandered into my head. I mistakenly began to think that the tissue coating was too think, probably because it felt so bloody heavy! Anyway I scraped off the semi dried goop, reheated it and coated again but much, much, thinner, paint brush thin. Apart from the fact that reheating a second time probably gained a degree of goop concentration, my initial exposures resulted in no image at all (5-25min) and tissue that didn`t want to release, so probably over cooked. Don`t bother commenting, I`II be back to cooking up fresh goop and recoating with the magnetic strip and yes I`II do the volume math too!

Pouring to the height of the magnetic strips is fine. I do it all the time.
