Hello everyone,

I'm an amateur dad mostly shooting my kids, but recently I've been paying more attention. I've been shooting mostly digital for the past five years or so and I really don't like it at all. I use a Nikon D70 which is a fine camera, but really big and cumbersome.

My film camera is a Contax G2 which I've had since 2000 or so, and I just love the thing. In fact I'm expecting a new 28MM lens for it tomorrow so I'm quite excited to try it out.

As for the Contax I usually shoot slide film and scan to the computer. After lurking here for a few weeks I've been turned on to the analog photo podcast and so now I have to try more film types.

Anyway here are two snaps from a trip to Sydney last month. The composition on the second one isn't much, but I like the color. They were shot with Fuji Provia400X.

Cheers,

Jeff

Welcome from a transplant, near Washington, DC. Go Phillies.

Jeff - welcome to APUG from western Massachusetts. I've visited Philly a few times, does that count?

Welcome to APUG from just down the river in Delaware.

Hey thanks very much for the welcome everyone. I'll post a few images with the 28 when it arrives.

Welcome from the south-west coast of British Columbia, Canada.

Your shots look great. If you haven't tried it yet or for a while, used slide projectors and screens are very reasonable now .

And thanks for subscribing!

Welcome from just across the Ben Franklin, and a few miles North on the Turnpike.

Any good camera/photo shops still around in Philly... what about WebbCam or DarkRoom Studios, or PhotoLounge... are they still around?

Anyway, once again, welcome

Hi Ira,

I haven't heard of those places (I'm new to Philly) but I'll look them up!

Jeff

Welcome from the Philly Burbs. Calumet Photo is in S. Phila. That is where I buy my Kodak E-6 Kit. Bryn Mawr's Camera Shop has a nice selection of used equipment, filters, lenses, and basic darkroom stuff. Project Basho is a great place to visit if you want to learn and be around other like-minded folk. Enjoy!

Ah yes the Bryn Mawr store is where I'm going now as it's convenient to my location. The folks are nice there but I don't know much about their printing. I'm going to try having them make an 8X10, that is as soon as I take a good snap

Yes! Only place I know of within many miles of Philly that carries Think Tank bags and has a fair number in stock.

Used to frequent Allens on New Falls Road, Levittown, Pa. ... until my recent visit... I was a little dissappointed

Darkroom stuff now on one tiny crowded shelf, one or two packs of RC paper, an assortment of chemicals, Kodak, (FG-7 I think)... still has a fair amount of used stuff... but way, way less film than he used to stock...

Seems he too is going the digital route, but then again, if he is going to compete in todays market he has to.

As I said above, still a good place to check out "used stuff", but not the same as I remember.... Oh those were the days.............
