Any info on image size?

62mm square image area - between the existing Mini and Wide formats.

As expected. Plastic body and plastic lens.

Actually, there's no viewfinder on this camera and it's now speculated that there is a mobile phone sensor that will capture the image and then it will be printed out on INSTAX film.

The fact that there is no viewfinder anywhere on the camera and that there is a very large LCD screen on the back shows that this theory is pretty strong.

I wonder what the cost will be.

But that article says explicitely the camera will be an analogue/digital hybrid. It even says all Square cameras will be of that kind.

Could the sq10 be digital with the option to print instax and the sq be automatic instax print (like current versions) with image simultaneously stored on sd card? I also saw that note that the sq contained sd card.

Probably a translation error. Why would one camera have a viewfinder and the other not?

That site calls itself a rumour site. Let's wait what actually comes on the market and in the mean time build cameras our own...

I wa right. A post today corrected th SQ model to be a pure film camera. No LCD on this one.

FYI, this rumor site is correct about 90% of the time.

The point is that Fuji is making a 6x6 instant film. We all know what to do with film. I don't care what camera they make for it. I can figure out how to squeeze it between rollers.

Agree with mynewcolor, needs a film back that can be mated to a proper camera. Fuji won't build it so it will have to be some third party. Perhaps Lomo, or a Kickstarter project for a back that will fit on a 4x5 or 2x3 Graflok.

We should be getting closer and closer to the release date of the new Fujifilm INSTAX square camera. Spring of 2017 is what their web site says!

Bring it on Fujifilm!

Dead Link Removed has Instax backs for 2x3 and 4x5 Grafloks. I believe they are adapting backs from Lomography cameras. Stands to reason something similar may be possible for the new format.

Actually I just noticed they replied to a backer comment in February and said:

Yep, if there's interest, and someone releases an adaptable Instax Square back, we will surely find a way to use it with the Mercury.

Well, lets see, summer starts about June 21st so they could drag it out to June 20th and still be in 'spring'.

I was really hyped for it but I hope they introduce a version without the digital part... I like instant photography because it's the moment that counts... not choosing the right photo..
Well, different things then..
