So I developed my first roll of film, tri-x in HC 110 in an old anscoflex II twin lens. I learnt a valuable lesson from this that i would like to share, LET YOUR NEGATIVES DRY FULLY!! I was over impatient and took them down when ever so slightly damp and put them in sleeves with a frosted back. When I went o scan them today I found out that the frosted back had imprinted on the negatives. Lesson learnt. I have one picture to show for it. Should I re-wash the others will this come off?

It's worth trying, it may or may not work.

For what it's worth, I'm willing to bet that every photographer has done this when they were getting started developing film. After forty years of developing my own film, I still have to stop myself from taking it down before its completely dry.

A second wash and hanging to dry over night helped, I will post a before and after so that other beginners will know what this is when they see it

I don't know your location, but it is worth remembering that if you are dealing with high, environmental humidity, it always takes longer for the gelatin in the film to dry.

When possible, I prefer to hang my film to dry over night. I then sleeve it in the morning.

In winter time, or in locations with low humidity, the problem often is drying times that are too quick, leading to curl. It is a good idea to add humidity in those situations. For those of us who dry film in a bathroom, running the shower before you hang the film works well.

Hope this helps.

Aren't there drying devices the speed it up? How do you prevent curling?

Yes.

It is difficult!

The last time I regularly used a small, forced air film dryer I was shooting to a deadline at a newspaper and I had a late 1970s hair cut.

And curl was a challenge.

lesson learned;done;don't feel too bad;only people not working make no mistakes.I managed to beat anybody's stupid mistakes;my intelligence has limits,my stupidity doesn't:smile: Just move on and laugh about it.It won't happenagain to you but will to someone else.
