The two of you must be retired dentists (inside joke; please don’t take offense). Regarding pencils… never did that but doesn’t B have more clay in the graphic mix than HB? I’d try a harder pencil if I were to try that for a greater graphite schmear.
No problem with dentist remarks. More importantly, by acquiring a Hasselblad one naturally becomes a member of dentist club, no ifs nor buts.

Glad be to see you back. I’ve never seen one in brass despite the constant internet recommendation. The ones I use are aluminum and I’ve never had stuck filters.

My experience too.

B&W makes adapters and filters in brass fittings.

Cheers.

Who makes brass adapters B60 to whatever size? I am looking at Heliopan, but Fotomipex has so unclear I have no idea what size it goes to. Probably not Fotoimpex's fault as Heliopan's website appears to be as useless as they come. SO I am waiting for Fotoimpex to address my question.

Anybody else makes these out of brass?

When I was on the search for this adapter, Heliopan came up at Fotoimpex, so I took that lead and never checked B+W for adapters (which would not have proven cheaper anyways). I have quite a few B+W filters and surely on par with Heliopan offerings.

Shame Fotoimpex has these adapters listed in a such a way that there is no way to tell what is being ordered (wrote to them, maybe they'll get it fixed). So I wound going direct Heliopan which eventually lead me to site I bought them from (also about 6 EUR cheaper than Fotoimpex).

To follow up on this, have just received Heliopan all brass B60 to 67mm adapter. I also have brand new alum versions, which were far less expensive. There is no contention in both, precision and overall feel. Heliopan goes in and you know it is made to perfection just from the way it moves around in the bayonet before reaching final stop. By comparison, 3 aluminum versions I have feel like somebody wanted to make it, just did not fully complete the project. They go in, they kind of stay in place, then they get out of shape (so need to be "trained" back into shape in order to stay in) and depending how frequently they get used, things can get annoying pretty quick.

So some 60 EUR for B60 adapter is not small money to spend, but once you get past it, it's at least worth it. To me more than that.

I am thinking of buying the Heliopan Bay 60 to 67mm step up ring, but find diverging statements in this thread as to whether it will vignette on the SWC Biogon 38mm or not.

OP unfortunately didn't return with experiences after actual use and now seems to not be a member anymore.

Before handing over €60; has anyone else used the said adapter on the SWC?
I would want to use it with B+H filters (the "slim" type, not "super slim") on my 903SWC

I have not had any problems with filters causing the lens hood causing vignetting with my 903 SWC. I use Hasselblad, B+H and Heliopan filters, used if available.

Go for the B60 filters. How many could you possibly need?

I agree. Sometimes I cannot find new B60 filters so I will buy used ones in EX+ condition. Several filter are not available in B60 from Hasselblad, B+H or Heliopan so I have a B60 to 67mm adapter for the R23, R29 and 720 filters. The I bought adapters for my 35mm cameras to take those 67mm filters.

I was replying to the OP who stated in the original post "not going into spending on B60 filters," it is a logical assumption that they are cheaping out. So I'm not sure why you think I am jumping to conclusions.

I agree. If price is a problem, buy used. But if one uses CF or later lenses one set of B60 filters will work for most of the Hasselblad lenses thus automatically saving a lot of money.

The trouble is, when you see an opportunity to buy a really good filter, of whatever brand you shop, other than Hasselblad, shooters will most likely, IMO, go ahead and purchase that filter, so adapters are a necessity, even more so if you have Hasselblad B60 filters that you need to use on screw mount lenses of standard manufacture.

I shoot Hasselblad, Heliopan, B&W (my favorite) and Hoya, if none of the above are forthcoming on the used marketplaces I visit for kit and know from experience, I'm most likely go with the first decently clean filter that fills my immediate need, rather than chancing a missed shot.

I also have and use Kodak Wratten gel filters as at hand backups, in my bag.

Had I deep pockets I would carry all B&W or Hasselblad glass, but again, if you have what you NEED, why no continue to use that for your work?

For me, it comes back to how many damn filters do you really need? I don't shoot color, but even then there would only be a couple of filters needed. And for black and white, I routinely use just an orange filter. Simplify. I have many lenses and cameras, but I usually end up going out with one camera with tat most two lenses, one type of film and an orange filter.

For color and lens protection I have a skylight/UV filter for each lens and polarizing filters for all but the widest lenses. For black & white green, yellow [several types] orange, red including for infrared R23, R25, R29 and 720.

A partial follow-up:
I purchased the Heliopan B60->67mm step-up ring, and a Heliopan 67mm UV filter as the latter was priced fairly - and I had never tried this filter brand before. My other 67mm filters are B+H and have the approximately same thickness.
The adapter+filter is flush with the lens, thus allowing to add or remove the original Hasselblad hood without removing the step-up ring or filter.
The Heliopan filter is "slim" and about the same thickness as a "slim" B+W. The total extension combined is 8mm.
All metal is brass and has an assuring heft to it.

I will do an additional follow up regarding potential vignetting with this combo when I have developed the film.

Well congratulations, Nitroplait... good to see that you succeeded in accomplishing your goals. I must admit, although exceedingly spendy ... that's a very nice looking adapter. One thing to keep in mind, as with all short lens hoods, you might need to be aware of potential flare since the glass surface of the filter is a lot closer to the end of the hood than would be the glass surface of the lens without a filter. Just one more thing to be mindful of.

A final follow up:
Results from the above combo (902SWC with Heliopan B60 to 67mm adapter and a slim Heliopan UV filter) confirms that it causes no vignetting (as several posters have correctly stated).
A B60 to 67mm adapter with the SWC is very convenient as it allows you to use a much larger range of filters with your camera.

Thanks for the comments in this thread.

And as a very final note, https://fotomayrshop.de/ is a recommended source if you live in the EU.
