Varycon or Ilford filters are recomended by Fotokemika.
However for me kodak kontrast filters have worked
perfectly well.

I have used Ilford filters with no problems. I have nothing to compare them to, but they seem right on.

I can't comment specifically on the Fotokemika Varycon papers, but do have experience with using both the Ilford and Kodak variable contrast filter sets on a number of different papers. Results differ depending on the set used, though either can produce perfectly good results. The #2 filter from the Ilford set may deliver results comparable to the #3 filter from the Kodak set with some papers. This is not a problem, once you've fine tuned your workflow and gotten some experience with the tools you have on hand.

I just finished up a print on Fotokemika Varycon fiber paper from a 120 negative. I ended up using the No. 3 Kodak polycontrast filter. Scan attached. I have no problem with this paper. It's okay, in my books.

Camera: Yashica Mat-124
Film: Ilford Delta 100 Pro (120 format); Dev: Kodak D-76
Paper: Fotokemika Varycon (KM) 8x10; Dev: Kodak Dektol
