Film v digital in scientific recording

Some time ago I asked for comments here on an article I had written on the wisdom, or otherwise, of using digital photography for primary archaeological recording. There were some very helpful views and if anyone is interested, the paper has now been published on line at:

A well thought out article.

One option for archiving the color negative films and digital shots is to output them as color separation onto black and white film with a film recorder. I plan on doing this for dye transfer and the separations will then be archival as well.
