Should have said 70th, for us it is and always will be a special day, I was not around during the occupation, I was born after the war, but members of my family were here, one member of my family, my great Aunt louisa, died in Ravensbruck gas chamber, for helping a Russian slave worker, others lived though it, but we celebrate the freedom we now have on the 9th of may each year, and it was great to do the job, but sad in a way that there was no one else who could do the job with that 40's look, not my words, but black and white film and traditional darkroom technicques was the only way that the job could be done, this was from every other local photographer they approached, they all suggested me as I was the last B/W film and darkroom photographer left, now I shoot projects that I want to shoot. I am still shooting, and have more time for my other passion, my classic Saab and my Classic Mercedes benz, I still take as many photographs, just as a hobby rather than a job, unless a job comes along that I want to do, their have been a few since last October that have been fun

I am somewhat new here, so pardon me if you are Well Known/Famous, but.......do you have a website I could look at, or somewhere I could see some of your stuff.
I would be interested in seeing anything of yours...but especially your project of The Channel Islands if possible.
Thank You

I am always amazed when people take the time to give relevant and detailed answers to things and then someone comes along and just blurts out "no" as if they know everyone who is a photographer, speaks for them and appears to have not even bothered reading the other replies.

Truly amazing.

No.

Clients have become used to a combination of image definition, editing control and return speeds on the project that are not available for film. Theoretically a studio could run a professional monochrome and C41 line, plus darkroom, but costs would be prohibitive. In the old days most cities had a pro lab that would return negatives and prints in 24 hours or less, but they are rare nowadays.

A professional can certainly offer film fashion or portraiture work, but as a general Tog there'd be no point in abandoning their digital cameras.

Still no to:
In this day and age, can film cameras be used professionally? Now what I mean by this is can film still be capable for the average professional photographer for all types of works? I'm not referring to using film along side digital, but rather using film exclusively.

Not a website as such but a photo blog mainly around Jersey coast, some still life and found still life, and a fair bit of of Jersey Heritage, and a small number of my other passion, Classic cars, the kink is in my amended signature

Ahhhhhh.....Great, Thanks.
Some very nice photos there. Will have to take a full look later.
I dig the car shots.....especially the "full dress" JEEP.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed my efforts, I have personally 2 classic cars, a recently ( less than a year) Mercedes and a Saab that I have restored over the last year,

A lot of "art photographers" (e.g. big names like Nick Brandt, Michael Kenna, etc. and many other lesser known ones) still shoot film.

Heck, I am on track to burn another 300+ sheets of 4x5 Portra this year again. That's ... $1500 including processing -__-
