Are all films equally thick? What's a good standard thickness for the slot in the filmholder that accomodates the film?

The 1951 ANSI specifications for the thickness of the slot is a minimum of .012 inches. I've used older sheet film with a .010 inch base, and graphic arts film maybe half as thick.

Does anyone know the full ANSI spec for film holders, or know where to find it, or what the number is so we can find it?

The spec I cited was A38.1.51-1951 "American Standard Dimensions for Photographic Double Film Holders of the Lock-Rib Type," approved April 19, 1951 by the American Standards Associaton, Incorporated. I believe there is a later specification, but don't know where to download it or this one.

The film holders I've made recently I've made the slot depth twice the thickness of a sheet of film or roughly .014 inches. The sheet film I was using (J&C 100) is about .007" thick. I've started using Bergger 200. I haven't measured the thickness, but it seems to load just as easily as the J&C.
