The 1951 ANSI specifications for the thickness of the slot is a minimum of .012 inches. I've used older sheet film with a .010 inch base, and graphic arts film maybe half as thick.
The spec I cited was A38.1.51-1951 "American Standard Dimensions for Photographic Double Film Holders of the Lock-Rib Type," approved April 19, 1951 by the American Standards Associaton, Incorporated. I believe there is a later specification, but don't know where to download it or this one.
The film holders I've made recently I've made the slot depth twice the thickness of a sheet of film or roughly .014 inches. The sheet film I was using (J&C 100) is about .007" thick. I've started using Bergger 200. I haven't measured the thickness, but it seems to load just as easily as the J&C.
