The Canon AE-1 is a japanese camera. You thus should use japanese film stock.

If Trix has worked for you then there no reason to think that Trix will not a good choice for a AE 1, if you want a less expensive alternative you might want to try Kentmeyer or Ultrafine 400, for smaller grain Foma 100, or Tmax 100. I use Foma 200 as my standard film in all formats, Freestyle sells it as their house brand.

typically it is not our way of doing to make a joke on new members.
But speaking of adding a camera to ones collection (thus indicating some experience, aside of giving proof at your website) and putting up that question triggers some fun making.

So, tell us what you had in mind with that question.

In 1999 Amateur Photographer did a comparative test of the then 25 years old Canon FTb, Nikkormat EL and Pentax Spotmatic F. They found that the Pentax gave an overexposure of +1/2 stop. They deemed the results from the Pentax to be more pleasant. I can't remember what film was used.

I suppose that any differences you find in 30+ years old cameras has more to do with CDS cells ageing and lack of calibration than anything else.

Yeap, it uses film.
Not the GB cards you listed on your website.
Just plain good old film.
Amazingly it is still being made today. Wow! 150+ years old technology still in use. Who would believe that?

Jokes apart, you shouldn't "stock" films, best to use them regularly. Your cameras will appreciate that.
BTW, your Hasselblad seems to have light leaks or it might be just your inexperience.

Dear Andoni,

As noted above, we (I) don't normally tease new members. My assumption was that a regular Tri-X user has significant experience and a little ribbing would be acceptable.

Now that my apology is done, Tri-X will serve you well in almost any situation. As the AE-1 The AE-1 meter can be set directly to 3200 if you want to try low light without a flash using Delta 3200. If you have a fast lens, Pan-F will allow you a more shallow depth of field in bright sun. Do not be misled by Pan-F horror stories. I have never found it to be difficult. Simply avoid the urge to overexpose and then overdevelop.

If it's the first time you use film, try HP5.

Practically all film produced nowadays is of high quality, so you can't go wrong.

No its not age, I did testing in the late 70s with brand new cameras and my finding were consumer cameras were weighted toward print film where pro/ pro sumer cameras were weighted toward slide film, Pop Photo confirmed this in an article written by Keppler.

Just use what you normally use. The camera is new, so keep everything else the same to learn what the camera might do that is good or bad to your end results.
That's always my recommendation, to change only one human input variable at a time, if possible.

Here in Minnesota they changed to Blick Art Materials many moons ago.
