Here I am again asking for more buying recommendations! I'm looking for a film scanner, as I'd like to scan 35mm and eventually 120 film. Since I do some pinhole work, I'd also like to be able to scan the sprocket holes. Maybe they can all do that and I just need to know how to go about doing it.

In any case, I don't think I need the newest model of anything, and mostly the scans would be for casual sharing -- maybe the occasional print. I'd like to spend around $100.

The Canoscan 8600f was a consideration. Epson has some good products too. In lieu of recommending a particular scanner, I'd also be happy to hear about some things to look for/avoid.

Thanks again.

Indeed, scanning questions are generally off topic for APUG, but many APUG members are active at APUG's sister site, http://www.hybridphoto.com , where film meets digital.
