Film not advancing when loading Mamiya 7II

I seem to be having some difficulty loading film into my Mamiya 7II that arrived today. I am loading a roll of 120 film (the film plate is oriented correctly), and am attempting to wind it around the film spool that is included in the camera.

Following the instructions listed in the manual, I have been successful in installing the spools, and inserting the tab into the take-up spool, but when I am asked to "advance the film" until the arrow lines up with the marker on the body, and then close the back, I am having trouble. I am cranking the film advance lever, but the take-up spool is not rotating.

Can anyone clarify what I might be doing wrong here?

On the bottom of the camera, are the two round things pushed in, the two buttons that push in the gears that hold the spools in place? They must be pushed in after you put in the film and the take-up spool.

Yes, those are pushed in. I can see them pop up into the bottom of the spools after inserting them. When I crank the film advance lever, nothing appears to be moving.

Are you sure you did not accidentally push the multi exposure button?

No, I am not sure. In fact, I am positive that I did accidentally push the multi exposure button. I switched it back to "single", and all seems to be working.

Not a worthless thread, because at least one of us is thinking of buying one of these cameras down the road. Now if I can remember when that finally happens, you will have helped another member of the group avoid at least this problem. Even if memory fails your trials are now part of the searchable database.

The only way this would be worthless is if you post asking how to do multi-exposures.... Enjoy the M7II, it's a great camera/system.

Hey, not long ago I wondered how mine stopped advancing and found that somehow while tinkering with it a while back I must have engaged the multi exposure button. not a silly question at all - you are up and running!

The Mamiya 6 has no multiexposure capability my only complaint about it....

Thanks all for the kind replies. It's been nothing but a joy to put my first few rolls through the camera, and laying eyes on the negatives for the first time was pretty exciting. I haven't changed the multi-exposure switch back from "single" yet, but that time should come soon.

The only thing I seem to be hung up on is which scanner to get. I'd like to be able to update flickr, and getting film drum scanned can be an extra expense that's hard on a student budget. C'est la vie.
