It's a 30% discount, but when combined with their extortionate shipping rates ($55 for 10 35mm rolls to the USA, for example), it's still much cheaper to buy P30 in the USA directly from Freestyle, Blue Moon, FPP, etc. The discount is also only good thru the end of the year.
yes, a touch disappointing as it apparently is a ONE SHOT deal (applies to just one order) and the amount I was quoted I would have to buy 1000 dollars worth of film to get a break even situation. :sad: {and I already have about a years supply of varous version of P30. }

Not a generous deal. Sorry to hear that.

Received an email from Film Ferrania regarding a "discount" as a Kickstarter backer in lieu of the various rewards they've been promising for 10 years.

have you tried contacting FPP or one of the local retailers and explaining the situation? Maybe they’d offer a similar one-time deal? Just thinking out loud here, but if I was them (FPP) and you sent me the email you got from Ferrania I’d grant the same discount and try to earn your future business.

30% ? I've received their mail with 15% discount...

I donated $375 and got a 30% discount. They told me in a subsequent email that your discount varies based on the amount of money you donated. And no stickers - I was really looking forward to the stickers.

Holy mackerel you joined Photrio on 2006 and this is your first post?

Welcome to the forum! Don’t make us wait another 17 years to hear from you! 🙂

I posted on APUG but I guess those didn't carry through.

They do.
Any chance you registered twice? No problem if you did, but with some details Sean may be able to merge your accounts.
In any event, welcome back.

yes, I was under the impression form pervious posts that the diiscount code would b eof the approximate value of the orginal pledge. I have been waiting for the 120 to come back in stock, where I will proably splurge for 5 rolls, as well as a few more P30 in 35mm. (I have been baying several each time iit was available so I probably still have 20 of the various versions.) ANd I did get a few of the Orto, and whlile it is interesting, I am nort sure if I have an application for it. so I am likly to only order a few rolls. so 15% of a possible 300 dollar order is about 1/3 of my original Pledge. and that is all taken up by the 40 dollar + flat rate DHL shipping to Canada.

don't get me wrong, I am really Pulling for FF, but found this last move a touch of a let down.

Now perhaps (lets hope) by the time the 120 comes in they may have a "Next" product available that would be interesting to try.

I hope they do well. I realise their perspective and narrative has shifted from the original Kickstarter, which was way too hopeful, but it's important to have film manufacturing outside the major players.

After receiving the discount email, I had a back-and-forth email exchange with FF sharing my disappointment over how the Kickstarter backer saga played out.

A bit of information they shared that I had not heard before was that the Film Ferrania USA subsidiary company failed/went bankrupt last year. They explained that to honor their previous promises of either rewards or credits in the amount of the original Kickstarter pledge that could be used toward film would have bankrupted the Italian company. Thus, the discount instead.

As to the truth of this statement, I have no idea. But that's their story at the moment.

I never even got the discount email. So some got 30% Some 15% And some got nothing. What's sad to me about this is that I went from honestly being in their corner to feeling pretty antagonistic towards them to the extent that I won't buy their film because I've come to have no respect for how they do business.

So do I. I agree that they (very) likely cannot compete against Fuji and Kodak in the traditional E-6 film market. However, niche emulsions like the 640T you mentioned, or 800 speed daylight E-6 film could do well, for them.

I think an ISO200 or 400 daylight Scotch Chrome would set them apart from Kodak and Fuji. In Europe, Ektachrome is expensive compared to Provia, but the latter is hard to get hold of.

I wonder if Scotch Chrome is still on their radar?

(I have a personal interest, I spent the summer of '66 working nights processing Kodachrome and 3M/Ferannia Dynachrome in the K11 process. Dynachrome was a good film, basically a copy of Kodachrome.)

a Higher speed E6 film would be interesting, I vaguely recall a 3M/Ferrania film faster than 400.

I suspect that with the small staff, they proably need to gothough several steps before they can tink of someting like that, the 3 stocks they already make are often out of stock.

It would be interesting and quite a value proposition! But the landscape has changed a bit, Ektachrome returned in the meantime. IIRC the new Ferrania had old material that could be used for a new color film but sadly the components spoiled.

It's great that saved the pilot factory, but it must be quite challenging. There was some Italian video on the P33 that the B&W work is a step before even attempting color (simpler) and that they didn't make B&W at the peak of their manufacturing (90-00s). Color film manufacturing is very complex and they currently are running a small operation. Something similar might be Orwo NCs, based off legacy Agfa resources.

Hi, I placed an order over a week ago on the official Ferrania website and I haven't heard anything since. I tried to contact them several times but I received absolutely no response by email and Instagram. Should I start to worry?

Should I start to worry?

I wouldn't worry, for now, as I think they can be very lax. If however, you don't receive your order after 30 days from placing the order, then you have recourse under EU consumer law.

Thank you for your answer, I ordered 20 rolls for a trip to Italy and now it's too late... Byebye Ferrania P30/P33, welcome back Ilford FP4 I guess.

Perhaps those here who read Italian can check the wording.
Nothing is marked in Italian...
