hi all,

does anyone know what it is? (picture attached)

the film is scala, processed some 6 years ago. scanned back then it showed none of this (i have the scan). scanned yesterday, it does; fortunately, only in one small area (the attachment is a 1:1 crop of a 4000 dpi scan)

no other frame in the batch seems to have it. the slides have been stored under archival conditions

suggestions much appreciated

Search this site for threads on reticulation, that's what it looks like to me. I couldn't tell you what caused it, if it was not like that originally.

It appears in some areas and not in others, therefore it could be reticulation due to a coating defect. The hardener or humectant might be unevenly distributed leading to cracking or reticulation. It is hard to tell without looking at large areas of film under high magnification.

thank you, gentlemen

yes, reticulation was the first thing i googled--found something else, really. let's hope it is a production booboo (my biggest worry is that it may be something in my storage system, which would put miles of film in danger)

thanks again

ps. still, if someone has insight, please post. all suggestions welcome
