film counter not counting - Pentax H1A

I have an old Pentax H1A (screw mount from about 1963). I learned on this camera and still use it somewhat regularly. Lately, I've noticed that the film counter doesn't always click to the next number. The film is still advancing, though, and everything else works pretty well. Is this fixable? Is it worth fixing? Is it something I could do myself?

Worth fixing? Depends how much do you like the camera. If you have a local repair shop you might want to see if they provide free estimates. Then you can decide if the repair cost is worth it. You can get various screw mount cameras for very little or a newer Kmount camera with a M42-Kmount adapter.

Probably worth fixing, but failing that there is an a great manual method for telling if the film has run out: the winding lever won't go round any more, you can't miss it .

That's how I'm doing it. The worth fixing is really more of a question of how much of a pain will it be to not know before I run out. It's not like I don't have a few more rolls in the bag. Since everything else works fine, I don't see me replacing the camera. It was my dad's - he let me borrow it when I was in 4th grade and he hasn't gotten it back (not saying how many years ago that was either, but he's gone through 2 cameras since then). It's mostly sentimental, but it really does fit my hand comfortably - old friend and all that.
