So I just found out today that I'm going to Sydney tomorrow for the day. I might have a spare 3-4 hours free after the meeting before my flight back at 1840. I'm perfectly happy to wander aimlessly shooting street (although my R3A is loaded with D3200 which I don't want to fly with, so I might take the Eos 3 and Shorty McForty out for a spin. Great lens and sweet eye-control AF but not the quiestest mouse in the church).

Alternatively, I can go shopping to kit up my new-to-me 8x10. Specifically what I need is film, is there anywhere in the city that might sell some 8x10 film? For anything remotely cheaper than BH + Postage? ($150-170 for 25 sheets of Ilford or $130-150 for 10 sheets of Kodak). Or maybe any second-hand stores that might have a working-but-cheap&ugly 300mm Symmar or something? Or even better, some Cambo/Calumet lensboards?

(not that i'm going to use company-funded cabcharges to get between shops, of course)

Theres Whiltons camera service just opposite Hyde park. Apart from servicing they also have a bunch of film cameras and lenses from 35mm to LF. You will be hard pressed to find 8x10 film in shops except at Blanco Negro in Alexandria but from the website it seems they are all out in that size.

Thanks for them, looking at the Whiltons page reminded me that I never got around to fixing my (there was a url link here which no longer exists) Compur Electronic (I got a Fujinon SWD 90mm the next day for a bargain so sort of forgot about the dead shutter on the Angulon). Maybe I'll throw that in the bag and see what he can do for me.

And the Blanco Negro don't look too bad for Foma, AU$225 compared to US$200 at B+H, which is AU$212 before shipping and card/forex fees. Too bad they're out (although I might call ahead just to double-check anyway).

Meanwhile, ouch. Just looked at where my meeting is tomorrow. Not sure which out of our premises in Newington, or one of two contractors in Rydalmere or Smithfield.

Anywhere near Parramatta worth seeing while I'm there?

There's also Fotoriesel in the CBD - they usually have a fair bit of film equipment as well. I would also recommend Smile Please in Newtown on King St. They recently re-did their whole shop and they have a bunch of fantastic film equipment and their prices are reasonable.

I used to work in Rydalmere and my favourite place to visit after work was the Newington Armoury thats pretty close by. You can wander around and see all the intact WWII bunkers where they stored munitions and the maze of rail tracks some of which weave around wetlands and through tunnels. There's even signs on some fences warning you of 'unexploded ordnance.' A bit closer to the olympic park there are even more wetlands and also a few shipwrecks. Generally a nice place to cycle/walk around.

Phone 9550 5833 should have some larger format film, but give them a call before turning up of course.
