I went to Lowe's this morning and picked up a three pack of 357 Energizer Silver Oxide batteries for around $ 5.95. Postage for batteries on the internet would probably have been almost that much. Thanks for all the answers. I didn't know that 357's were the replacement for the older 76PX cells.

Try living in a rural area where they have emaciated all the competition. You can reduce the use but elimination is impractical. An unfortunate truth.

The old MS76 battery description has essentially been replaced with 357.

I've had good luck in the past buying larger quantities off eBay, but I have a number of cameras that use that size battery.

You absolutely should avoid the alkaline version - the silver oxide version is worth the extra money.

Matt, Thank You!

yes, you are correct that 675 cells are actually zinc air. in that case, they should be fine, and I presume better priced than Wein air cells.

Yep, the 675s put out a steady 1.40v and are MUCH cheaper than the Weins. Even at a pharmacy, you can buy a six-pack for about the same price as one Wein. If you've got a Costco nearby, I recommend you buy your 675s there. You can buy a card of 48 batteries for less than $10. For that price, I just always keep a portion of a card in my camera bag and replace the batteries as necessary. I have found that 1.4v is so close to 1.35v that my cameras' meters are not affected by the very slight difference in voltage.

Yes, the zinc-airs don't last very long. Tops is around 9-10 months. But they're so cheap, who cares? Also, the zinc-air discharge profile is almost exactly identical to that of the original mercury cell batteries, which is reason enough for me to use them in preference to all others.

I'm afraid that Radio Shack stores are going to suffer the same fate as Kodachrome.
More likely, some company will purchase the name and make it online retail only. As what happened with Circuit City some years ago.
I used to stop in Radio Shack quite often to browse around, but as nearly two thirds of the store space is dedicated to smartphones now, I've lost interest.

Sounds like Sprint bought the name and are or will be using it within their stores?
Radio Shack had a weird history in Canada. InterTan ran stores which carried most of the Radio Shack inventory and used the Radio Shack name under license from the US chain. Then InterTan was bought by Circuit City and stopped paying license fees, so Radio Shack US sued them, so then they changed the name to The Source by Circuit City, then Radio Shack US tried to enter the Canadian market to compete with the former Canadian Radio shack, and was sued to stop that, then Circuit City went bankrupt but The Source continued, and was sold to Bell Canada.. makes my head spin.
