I took delivery of two 36 exp. rolls of Ferrania ORTO film today. I can't find an expiration date anywhere on the boxes. Somewhere I have some P30. Maybe that film has an expiration date.

I can't find any date stamped on the box (35mm 36 exp.). What about the QR code? I pointed my phone camera at the QR code label but nothing happened. I'll try the Filmferrania website.

It was a very subtle embossing. I only noticed it when the light hit it at a certain angle. Maybe that is something they started recently? Or it's only on 120 boxes?

the bar code has to be flat to be scanned properly, But their is a 8 digit hex number underneath. one of my rolls of P30 was something like 00000dc3 passing that to the filmferrania.app page gives https://filmferrania.app/whoami.php?uid=00000dc3 entering the number from your roll should give you the production date.

they did say somewhere, that they would rather use an app (https://filmferrania.app/ ) to tell you when the film was made, and let you figure out if it is older than the typical 3 year shelf life.

No, I do not have an old phone. I peeled the label off of the canister and stuck it onto a piece of paper. Then I held the camera over it. What was the result? It showed a production date of 01/01/1980. Not very helpful.

That stuff keeps well! 😀
