busy

You have been a busy dude. But think of all the money you saved. I am impressed. If I can get through two rolls of b&w I think I've had a great day.

Been there! 12 rolls 120, 15 rolls 135. Literally all day in the darkroom. Good times!

Whew! That's over 80 ft of film, an awful lot to process by hand.

But everything is relative. At the big labs where I spent a lot of time, that would only be about a minute and a half of machine time. But since the machine still has to run a ~25 minute cycle, they wouldn't even bother to start it up for such a small amount of film.

You're in the awkward zone of doing a bit too much for hand-crafted work, but too little for high-volume factory-style production. Too bad there's no simple, cheap equipment to automate this sort of volume. (None that I know of, anyway).

Patterson 8x multi tank will do 8 off 35mm at once prorata 120.

I do have the help of a JOBO CPA2 which is really nice, but it still requires lots of attention.

I can say with confidence though that I have loading reels down pat.

Inspiring. I have a backlog of film (mostly color) going back to last summer. And as much as I've streamlined my process, I'm still quite exhausted after processing just one tank (two 35mm or one 120). But I'm doing everything by hand...

All of this was shot in the last 2-weeks.

A few hours a day for..,

it all depends on how close the exposures are to one another ( density )
and how fast you are at judging

it takes a bit of practice but sometimes you can get 15 "machine print rc/prints " done in less than an hour.
its just a matter of picking a base exposure and running away with it. if you have an empty paper box ...
you can make 16 prints at a time ( back to back between all your fingers ) and dunk/release them in your tray of developer
and shuffle them all by hand in your tray .. then by hand into the stop + fixer ...

thanks for the memories

16 rolls of C-41 is about the most I have done at once, that's 4 batches in the SSK-4. Fortunately it's pretty automated.

Agreed re: making 12-15 prints an hour. thats's about my fastest throughput for RA-4 with a Fujimoto CP-31 doing the heavy lifting (processing).

I did the developing in 6 runs.

As to printing it depends on the size and intent. Proofs come quick. Important prints not so fast.

Just took my first good look at the negatives and I couldn't ask for more.

I was pretty careful and the negatives look reasonably close. There are a few grab shots that are thick or thin but the bulk were set with an incident meter and appear really consistent.

Once I get the first one dialed in I should be able to rock.

excellent !

nothing beats the feeling of 100 prints made in a few hours hanging on a closeline above the sink

good luck with your proofs
