Notes:
Camera is in much worse shape than described and shutter does not function properly as was claimed. Buyer promised "2 day money back" in listing but has refused to give a refund thus far. Very disappointed with the transaction and will be escalating claim with Paypal if not resolved this week. Additionally neither the lens adapter or "film thrown in" were shipped as promised. Again, buyer beware!

No excuse are able to express my sale, and its outcome. I do apologize if everything went wrong, I had not planned this, please understand! I ended up in panic mode after receiving a complaint, as I was under the impression that what I sold, was accurately described, however, due to my ignorance? I ended up feeling that the camera was in fully functional condition, I was obviously wrong, however, I felt I was right at the time, and that I was being had!?
I did take longer than expected to ship the item, unfortunately this was due to my darn work schedule I wasn't used to, and the lame fact that I was out of printer ink, and money at the time, to purchase some!
I was also out of money to refund the money once I accepted that I was wrong, and that the buyer was not trying to pull one over me!
I apologize for even thinking this about one of our members, and unfortunately, it was I that ended up losing trust, from one of our own film loving member!
I cannot regain texaspaul's trust, but, I will say this, I apologize severely and hope that you can forgive me, for such a terrible experience, and headaches I may have caused! I do know that I will either never sell again, or, never offer money back, unless I am positive that I can afford too! I admit 100% that everything said about my sale is true! I did not plan it this way at all, however, it did occur! The worst part is, that Paul had trust in me, and, I ended up losing that important trait!

On 8/3/15, I received the camera, which was in fantastic cosmetic condition. Indeed, as I noted in my original feedback, the camera was in nicer cosmetic condition than I had expected. As a gesture of gratitude and trust, I left glowing feedback based on the camera's cosmetic condition and the seller's prompt shipping. I politely asked the seller to either allow me to return the camera, or to give me a discount on the price to offset the cost of getting it working. This was, in my opinion, a reasonable request. I have sold a few cameras and lenses through APUG, and, on the single instance a camera I sold was DOA, I immediately refunded the purchase price and shipping cost to the buyer.

The seller responded to my polite request by insulting me and questioning my honesty. At this point, I decided that further interactions with this seller were likely to result in additional insults and drama, and decided to just write off the cost of the camera and amend my feedback.

Lessons learned: I'm going to make sure I request the right to return an untested camera if it proves to be a dud. I'm going to wait to thoroughly test my purchases before leaving feedback instead of assuming that a member of the community would do the right thing (in my opinion) and stand behind the goods he sold. When I buy from unknown sellers on eBay, my guard is up. It should have been up on APUG too. Caveat emptor, right?

The most disappointing thing about this transaction wasn't the dud camera. It was, instead, being insulted and having my honesty questioned by the seller.

Ok, so maybe I was a little out of line when I questioned his honesty regarding his brand new assessment of the camera…But heck, 10 days before he loved the camera!

In his new PM to me he said that the camera was “dead, dead, dead” and informed me that he either wanted a refund or a “significant discount” to offset the cost of getting the camera a CLA……To me that was pretty darn confusing…Especially when none of his previous praise about the camera and the transaction said that he was only happy with how pretty the camera was.

I sent him the camera that I described in the listing…at a price appropriate for it’s known condition which included shipping and all other associated transaction fees…If I knew that the camera was working perfectly, I would have stated that in the description and the price would have been significantly higher…Yes, I told him I would reluctantly refund his money if he sent it back and I did question his honesty at that point.

Some buyers of vintage cameras these days have a sudden onset of buyers remorse, regardless of how the camera was described, and expect the seller to pick up the tab to bring it up to perfect condition…Maybe it’s just me, but, if I purchase something at a bargain price knowing up front that there’s a chance that it may not be perfect…I don’t blame the seller if it’s not…By the same token, if the buyer had informed me that the camera worked perfectly, which many of my buyers have later told me for other untested cameras I have sold…I wouldn’t demand more money from them because it was better than I described.

If I'm in the wrong for thinking like I do, then so be it...Case closed.

CONDITION: Excellent condition cosmetically. Camera is cocking and firing at the default setting, but I have no battery to test it further. Rangefinder is working but is a little bit cloudy. Blades are clean. Lens glass is excellent with no scratches, fungus or haze. Light seals are getting old and sticky. Case is very nice too. NOTE: Battery compartment had some corrosion from an old battery. I cleaned out most of it as shown.

I can not see how any issues with this camera's potential to not be fully functional can be regarded as undisclosed. Not Tested, is Not Tested, and therefore may not work, and any buyer should be aware of that when making his informed decision to purchase an item.
