Dear Apuggers,

Once again we wish to express our thanks to you for taking part in our survey, this was also conducted amongst a great number of other ILFORD Photo customers via Twitter and Facebook.

We said we would give you feedback on some of the sections, this is just an update to tell you that we will, but it will come in January as our marketing team are still working through the data.

But here are some interesting facts :

On average you are not as old as you think you are !

More and more young people are getting involved in analog photography and look to sites like APUG.org and ILFORD Photo.com to learn what it is all about, how to get involved and importantly actually how to do it.....

In very straight language : Analog Monochrome Photography and Printing and Processing is in the rudest of health as we leave 2014 with new people joining our creative world and more photographers and printers expanding the type of photography and printing they do.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed and especially everyone who helps and assists these new converts to analog photography and the crafts involved. A big thank you for the Apuggers who have made a great success of Localdarkrooms.com and everyone who buys, uses and value's ILFORD Photo products, we could not do what we do without you.

Simon : ILFORD Photo / HARMAN technology Limited

p.s : On average you have a minimum of 4 camera's, some of you have many, many, many more... some would say it must be a passion... and we totally agree.....

"rudest of health"

That doesn't sound very good. Could be my lack of understanding British, hopefully.

I thought the same thing and had to google it
According to usingenglish.com it is an Idiom: In rude health = If someone's in rude health, they are very healthy and look it.

Good news and I've also made the observation that many film users are under 30 or around 30 whereas many amateur digital photographers are older and often want to be appear hip and up to date One could say digital can be an effect of the mid or endlife crisis

Thanks Simon, my conclusions are:

1) Future looks bright
2) I'm not as old as i thought
3) I am not feeling bad anymore for having so many cameras.

very glad to hear this After the great contraction, I figured analog photography would settle down as an art form/niche practice and toddle along, keeping its support industry alive, and so it has done.

Mostly thanks to the vision and determination of companies like Ilford ... Thank you, Simon, and all you work with.

Dear Apuggers,

On average you are not as old as you think you are !

I would like to agree, however I've discovered that some of my body parts must be much older than others.

As long as I am younger than I thought I was, the rest of the survey is unimportant by comparison :D

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. Similar to when we used to say such and such was really bad, we meant it was really good.

I'm more acquainted w/ "cool", "heavy" and "far out, man". Been a while since I've heard those, sadly.

I knew it!!

That does it. I'm digging out my old leather basketball and heading to the gym to show those kids a thing or two...

Do you think I'll look funny in those tiny little shorts??

It looks as if the most important part of that survey was the age part Simon.

Just between you and I, I may not have been completely forthright regarding how many cameras I own...if I remember my wife was looking over my shoulder at the time. :D

But, more seriously, the obvious interest and commitment to the film industry expressed by your company is a refreshing feeling. And from me to you, thanks for your regular contributions. I personally appreciate it.

Have a wonderful Holidays and I wish you the rudest of health.

Thanks for the feedback, Simon. I hope, there's more detailed feedback to come.

Just took a roll of HP5 out of my camera and am looking forward to print on MGWT which is hopefully on the road.

This.

I feel old now. But I think part of the reason older people may lean toward digital has less to do with appearing hip and more to do with time. I don't have nearly the time for the darkroom that I wish I did. I could turn out far more work if I worked digitally. Younger folks have less money (but used analog gear is cheap, darkroom stuff is often literally a "rescue it from the junkpile" matter now) but more time. Older people can more often afford to keep up with digital, but are less able to spare (wonderful but hard to fit in) hours in the darkroom.

Who has only four?

Film cameras, I assume we mean..lessee....I can think of nine I have in working shape plus one junker and one that just needs light seals.

I don't use some of them much. I mainly use five of them.

Haha!

Well I have at least one in every common currently produced format, gotta have it, haha, except 5x7 and anything above 11x14 (also plate sized). Lol

OK, so if I've got a few 4x5 standards, rails, and bellows floating around, plus backs for 67, 69, FP100, 4x5, 617, how many cameras do I have?
Even counting them all as 2 (which they were when I started), that's 1x 8x10, 2x 4x5, 3x 6x6, 1x 645, 6x 135, 1x 135 1/2, 1x 126, so that's 15 total.
Does it count as a camera if I punched a pinhole in a suitcase and loaded MGiv into it? Make that 16 then.
