FD 28-55 zoom. I've just picked one up and I don't know if I love it yet.

SchwinnParamount

Folks,

I've been a Nikon man for decades but recently picked up a Canon F-1. Among my lenses is now a 28-55. Nobody in the local shop could offer an opinion on this lens. I bought it anyway. Now that I own it, I own it. You know what I mean?

Meanwhile, I've still got this nagging feeling that I own a dog. Anyone else have an opinion on this lens?

As far as FD zooms go I have a FD 70-150/4.5 as well as 35-105/3.5 and the 70-210/4 which are outstanding lenses. The rest are primes and I have nothing but good things to say about them but there could be a rotten apple in the bunch. Testing is really the only way. Have fun and do let us know the outcome.

The only Canon FD zoom that is reputed to be a dog is the FD 100-300 although I have I admit I have never used one myself, however I do have the 35-70 f 3.5-4.5, the 28-80 f 4, 70-150 f4 and 80-200 f4 and they are all very good indeed.
