I'm sure this topic comes up every year. Fall comes early in this part of the world, colours are changing in the mountains.

Given the current availability of colour films, what do you prefer for fall colours?

Something punchy like Velvia or Ektar, or something more subdued? Do you use any special filters ie warming or CPL?

All! I'm looking forward to this, it will be my first autumn doing C-41 process myself. Looking forward to yellows, oranges and browns. I have been shooting flowers all summer and have alot of red, blue and green to enjoy.

I will be shooting the Portras (all of them) and Ektar.

Yes, RVP50, with polariser and moderated if required for the conditions (prevailing light).
No warming filter required with Velvia, though it often is needed for Provia 100F.

Kodak UltraColor or Kodak VividColor if you can still find them.

The Ektachrome E100G in my freezer, although the E100GX was slightly better.

For positive film, I prefer Velvia 50 or Velvia 100 (the 50 is magic though!) for fall colors. If it's a negative film, then Ektar 100. For low light situations, though, I like Portra 800 in 120.

I would choose Ektar 100, knowing full well it has saturated colors and, for me, doing this is a state of sin.

For me, it's a question of whether I want to capture fall colors as they actually were or how I imagined them to be.

I have a roll of Ektar 25 defrosting in the fridge. I think I'm going to use it this fall rated at around 12 and see what I get.

Has anybody used the Hoya Intensifier for fall colors? Any opinions?

I shot the fall colors in Japan using Fuji 400H. In the soft morning light after a brief rain, the colors were simply sublime.

Have no idea about what might a favorite. I rarely shoot any color, but my wifes daughter had a baby girl one year ago...seemed like a good reason to expand my film horizons
With that useless info out of the way........What i HAVE is Fuji Provia 100 and Kodak Colorplus 200

I got a hold of 40 sheets of Provia 4x5 , boxes got wet when my dealer's fridge malfunctioned . 20 bucks for 2 boxes of 20 , packs are sealed so should be good . He offered me the lot for ten bucks , I felt guilty and gave him 20. I have a bunch of 120 Fujichrome too. I will make 6x6 slides . Have a new Fuji kit waiting to develop

Ektar seems to reproduce the colours of orange/red/yellow leaves in Autumn ( it's called Autumn not " FALL" !!! ) really well...

For fall colors, which are going to be warm and muted colors anyway, Portra. For just about everything else, I prefer Velvia or Ektar if you're going for the saturated look.
