What is your favorite compact 35mm?

By compact, I mean whatever you want it to mean...it's all relative. Compact, to me, is a camera that can easily fit in your jacket pocket without being too bulky or weighty.
My favorite compact is the Rollei 35, next is the Contax T, and then the Kodak Retina.

As the name implies, my favorite is a Olympus Pen viewfinder type, with all manual control (no EE models). The one I use most is a very early, 1st model, made about April/1960.

Minolta Hi-Matic 7II. It has a sharp lens with bokeh-potential and good metering. Some of my favourite street shots were taken with this camera. It's also very affordable.

olympus XA, hands-down, although i recently acquired an Tessina which is being fun to learn and damn small. Sample image: tessina_0006.jpg

My favorite compact is the Nikon EM with a 28mm or 50mm lens. Very nice package.

I have 2, the most compact is my Pentax IQ zoom point and shoot, next in a larger pocket is Retina IIIC big. Then again a 3rd is my Minolta Weathermatic, with a 35mm and 80mm lens for shooting in the rain.

RF: Leica CL with CV40f1.4

SLR: Nikon FG with nikkor 50f1.8E (second version)

Olympus XA2 and Ricoh 500G. The latter has an excellent lens, and the former fits in a jeans pocket - remarkably tiny.

,My favorite compact is my Minox 35 GT

Day Tripper

My favorite is the Olympus 35RC.

I'm a Tripper-simple but just keeps going and nice sharp lens too!

I am not sure how you guys can fit some of those cameras in your pocket.

My favorite is the Ricoh GR1. It really is a pocket camera. The lens is incredible as well. Unfortunately, mine is broke.

My other favorites are the Minox 35s, although they are a little clunky the lens is incredible, and the Contax TVS. The TVS is very underrated. It could very well be the best zoom compact ever made. I like to carry it sometimes when I am shooting 4x5. If you like to shoot color, the Fuji DL Super Mini Zoom is great and can be found cheap.

Olympus XA.
I have had about 4 of them since my first in 1979 when it cost me a fortune as a student. Others that came later joined me on years of bicycle touring, bushwalking and varied travel.
Fits anywhere, ready for anything, anytime.

I'll also join in with the XA. I have been in Japan for a couple of weeks. I took a Nikon F kit and my XA. I think the XA has had more use, at least when I didn't need the wider or longer lenses of the Nikon. It resides in a pocket of my photo vest and is always ready to use. With the f2.8 lens and 400 or 800 film, it does quite well in low light.

So far I've shot 20 36-exp. rolls and am still going. Having fun!
