Cases?

I'm very interested in bags (and have far too many), but what are cases good for?

cases, for my purpose, at least, protect the camera when it is out and rocking around. it keeps the metal from collecting nicks, leatherettes from getting cut or gouged, and all around just make the camera look pretty sexy.

Does it matter what model iphone you have? Or will these cases fit them all?

I make my Canon's wear their original undies. (half-case)

Lots of protection and way better access than a never-ready. Also like how they effectively camouflage any SLR--no logo, no clue what's wrapped up.

HMM OP was a little OT with his plug.

But to answer the question.. I prefer no case and keep the camera in a padded shoulder bag either just the size of the camera, or just big enough for a camera and a lens or two (or a second camera). The fitted cases are just too bulky in a bag. (ive also dumped the idea of hard lens cases).

i am a leica fanboy. anything leica. fanboy. hand made. quality. i support diy. but thats my opinion/perspective. opinions are not wrong, but everyone has them.

i like this approach, it is minimal in nature and protects the gear but keeps it ready to shoot.

I do not have a favorite camera case but I do love the see-through plastic lens case that once came with the purchase of some Nikon lenses.

My favorite bag depends entirely upon what I happen to be out shooting with: the Hasselblads travel in a Lowepro backpack; the Linhof in a backpack that I customized myself; the Nikons go out in public in a Domke journalist's bag; and the Leicas - depending on the weather - generally travel in the pockets of my jacket (35 and 90mm lenses) and around my neck (the trusty M6). :munch:

We've got a Yashica Mat that came with a case. Its in good shape and I used it until I had to change the first roll and realized how much it got in the way. I left the case off and its stored in my closet to keep it in good condition to up the resale value . I just got a Luna Pro F with an immaculate leather case. It makes the already bulky meter even bulkier and it now resides in the same box as the Yashica case, awaiting resale. My wife's DSLR came with one of those neoprene Zing cases, it was a little too phallic for her (and my!) tastes. I'd rather just wrap the camera in a spare stocking cap or small rag. When out-and-about I prefer to let the camera hang from my shoulder or neck. I carry extra lenses, cameras, film, meter, etc in a canvas shoulder bag. I use the bag every day to carry things to work but I'm thinking about getting an insert for it to make it a little more convenient when I'm using it for photographic purposes.

I've got a Minolta enlarging lens that came with a case like narsuitus shows. I DO like that for keeping the lens clean and safe when its not in use but I wouldn't want to carry something like that around.

For years I carried my Exakta's around in a used attache case. Custom fitted with closed cell foam the cameras, lenses, finders and meters were well protected when not in use. These were the days before laptops so a beat up attache case was also a good disguise for cameras.

I really don't like any shoulder bags, or backpacks, vintage or new. They are universally awful. But, I am one of these nuts who actually likes eveready cases on all my 35's. They look great, and keep the bottom plates from scratching or brassing. My oldest 35mm is a 1970 vintage Nikon F, and the bottom plate is flawless. Also have an FE-2 in black- no scratches, no brassing.

those are the ones that the lens mounts onto the plastic right? i like it.

Could somebody post picture of zing case with manual 35mm SLR? I'd like to see how it fits the sharp angles
