Two - a 35mm and an 85mm.
Plus a 24mm for those times that call out for it.
And if you use Olympus OM equipment, they all fit together in such a tiny bag

I second this! Love the 35mm and 85mm combo.

If I just take one lens though, I take a the good old 50mm.

And width and height do?
Together, they do. To me, it is meaningful to know that an 80 mm on 56x56 has about the horizontal AOV of a 50mm and the vertical AOV of a 35mm on small format. Or that, in order to get roughly the horizontal AOV of the 35mm, I need a 60 or 55 mm for 56x56.

In conclusion:

The favorite 35mm lens focal length is the one you’re using on your camera presently...!

Or, to mention some more off-standardish (these days) focal lengths: Zeiss Jena Flektogon 25mm, Biotar 58mm, Biotar 70mm, Biometar 80 & 120mm, Sonnar 180mm... (Ok, some are pretty close to what is common 24 vs 25 and 80 vs 85 is probably more rounding for marketing...)

I don't use Olympus and don't have a 85mm, but the same applies for my Pentax setup. Tiny camera and compact lenses. Camera+lens and 2 extra lenses would fit in one small bag.

For me, a 35mm lens is perfect for landscape photography...!

For me too. I was a weekend away with friends last weekend. Brought my Canon EF with FDn 50 f/1.2
A nice lens, but a bit too long if you want to take a pictures with multiple people if you sit together

It is interesting to me that when shooting medium format you visualize in 35mm, and do the conversion in vertical/horizontal AOV to know what medium format lens to use.
