Queen Elizabeth (Leica user)

I think she shoots Minox as well.

Rudy Giuliani had a show in the Leica Gallery in New York while he was mayor.

and there is also Andy Summers, former drummer with The Police, who likes to go out at night and do street photography with a Leica and Delta 3200.

Andy Summers was the guitarist with The Police. Stewart Copeland was the drummer.

what no mention of Graham Nash (but Me thinks he's all digital these days what with NashImages.com and all....

Nash was at the forefront of the digital printing revolution, I think he worked with Epson developing thier color printers. Wonder if he ever touches anything silver any more?

Silver Dollers?

Julia Roberts so you think she is a film user?

Accourding to eveything I have watched on TV and heard about her photography says she uses film, both 35 and medium format.

Baryshnikov was analogue-and may still be. His site doesn't mention equipment, except to talk about him using film when he started.

Matt

(try a google search of Analogue and Photography...APUG is #1).

Julia Roberts has played a photographer in a couple of movies, and appeared reasonably competent while doing so. In fact, if you should have the unfortunate experience of having to watch "Stepmom", you may find that watching her work as a photographer will at least slightly distract you from the rest of the movie itself.

Now of course, you may like movies that are designed solely to make you cry ....

Hey now Matt!

I liked stepmom, I always enjoy a movie where I can watch a pretty girl handling Hassys and an F5...come on now, watch the movie for what it was made for, the gear man, the gear!

Are you married? Do you buy more camera equipment than perhaps your spouse would appreciate?

My wife loves that movie. It makes her cry. Now, I haven't used this tactic...but, I would have to say that after watching that movie, if I were to say, "I really want to take more pictures of the family...you know, another camera/lens/batch-of-film/etc would be just the thing", the chances of odd looks when the package came to the door would go down dramatically.

I know Brendan Fraser is into film photography and shows some of his work on his website.

I believe Leonard Nimoy also shoots film and sells prints.

Spock, or someone of the same name?

Is he on apug?!?

I was told that Barrett Oliver, a famous child star of the 80s is now an instructor of photography in LA. Our kids loved him in his movies.

Just information I got roundabout, but it might be in line with this thread.

I realized on second thought that he might not be an APUG member.

Vigo Mortenson is a photographer. I have heard from someone who knows him fairly well that he likes photography more than he likes acting.

He is also a Canadien's fan, according to the Wiki thingie. Grrrrr......

IIRC, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt were into Leicas pretty heavy when they were together "so many moons ago" :D.

I've heard some stories of them going into Samys in downtown L.A. and buying collectible Leicas from Samy or George(Samys used camera guy). Not sure if this is true, but you never know. There's a lot of celebrities who go through that store on a constant basis. I saw Pamela Anderson there once while picking up a rental. She doesn't look all that good TBH without the airbrushing and implants .

PE,

Barret came to APIS in 2007 and talked about Woodburytypes and showed some of the ones he made. A good friend from SF/NM went out to California and saw Barret at his studio. Barret had hooked him on wet plates. Oh his book is 'A History of the Woodburytype' It is nice to have the freedom to do your work.

Jan;

Thanks for the informaiton. I am glad that he is doing well. I mainly remember him from some of our children's favorite films. Then I had heard of his interest in photography.

Best wishes to you.

Bryan Adams shoot LF, he's not been mentioned.

Brad Pitt was given a 5x4 Littleman Patent Polaroid converion camera, which kept Littleman in luxury for a few months :D

But more seriously isn't it tome we actually recruited some of them to join APUG. Perhaps Sean or David Goldfarb should be on the case

Last winter W Magazine ran a large spread of photographs that Pitt made of Angelina Jolie and their brood of kids. There was a great note from the editor about finding Pan-F film on e-bay, then personally flying the film to their castle digs in... well, somewhere... France or Africa??? Whatever.

Then Pitt wanted some obscure movie film stock, but the editors said they couldn't find it, so they sent him Delta 3200 for the grainy pix he was after.

The pictures were pretty good, but honestly... all that ferrying film around the world struck me as a bit over the top.

Mathew Modine shoots pictures with a Rolleiflex on film sets. I remember seeing an interview with him somewhere talking about shooting pictures on the set of Full Metal Jacket. Apparently Kubrick was somewhat bemused as to why he would want to be going around with such an ancient camera ...
