What makes some people go fanatical about any photographer in particular, so many times simply because the person in question is merely related to a famous photographer? Or even worse, simply based upon one single photograph?

Instead of focusing on the famous person's surname, you should be focusing on his work. I am more attracted to art than names.

Well, there are advantages of being a child of a successful person in art or business. You might have their genes to do as well, even better. Plus you get the advantage of having a great teacher. Learning the pitfalls and the hidden paths of success from a parent improves your chances a lot. So I wouldn't discount the skills or talent of offspirng.

On the other hand, trying to live up to the fame of a relative, especially with the same surname, can make life challenging if you don't have the same abilities. Many people won't accept you for just you.

Absolutely. Nobody likes people who claim they know absolute truths about photography.

If you wish to discuss the importance of any particular group or family of photographers or ant particular photographer, go right ahead and start a thread on that. If the discussion strays from the civil, we may have to shut it down.
