Since about 2022, I've been running an international print exchange over on Reddit twice a year, though you don't have to be a Reddit user or have a Reddit account to participate.

Sign-ups just opened for the Fall 2025 edition! Last time we did this (Spring 2025), we ended up with 261 participants from 26 countries, and it was great fun!

Here is the Reddit post that includes a sign-up link, I'll also try to keep this thread updated with relevant information for those who can't or don't want to use Reddit.

Original post copied from Reddit:

Welcome one and all! The weather here in Utah has dropped from an average of 105°F during the day to 104°F, which is how I know it's nearly autumn! Now I can open the windows and enjoy the cozy smell of... wildfire smoke, I guess? The leaves are turning a beautiful shade of... well, brown. And crunchy. And flammable. But hey, at least I get to participate in my favorite print exchange and watch college football. Gotta take the wins where I can get 'em.

If you've done this before, you pretty much know the drill. If you haven't, I strongly suspect everything you need to know is included in the FAQ. Please feel free to comment here or DM me if your questions are asked only infrequently.

But for our newcomers, the elevator pitch is: You get randomly assigned to mail a print to someone (or more than one person if you want), and you will also receive a print in the mail from someone. It's fun!
Key dates for this exchange:
  • September 1: Exchange sign-ups open
  • September 26: Exchange sign-ups close
  • September 27: "Last chance to back out" emails go out
  • September 29: Random assignments are made and distributed via email
  • November 8: Deadline for getting your print(s) in the mail to your recipient(s). But... get everything sent well before November 8th, yeah? Can we all agree that's a good plan?
  • November 19: Sticky thread opens for people to report missing prints, and emails go out to people who signed up as volunteers, to make sure they're still up for it
  • November 30: Window to report missing prints closes, and thread is locked
  • December 1: Volunteer assignments are randomly generated and distributed via email

Also... invite your loved ones to participate! Invite your sworn enemies! Invite your preferred deity. No need to have a Reddit account to participate, because we are a progressive and tolerant bunch around here.

By way of update, we are currently sitting at 288 confirmed participants from 30 countries, once again topping our previous record (261 people from 26 countries IIRC).

Still time to join up! I will be doing my very best to ensure that nobody living in a country that won't mail to the USA right now gets assigned any recipients from the USA, so don't stress about that.

Wanted to provide a quick update on the last full day to sign up.

We have 427 confirmed participants from 37 countries right now, so we blew the top off our old record for participation. This is going to be one for the books.

I am maintaining a list of countries that have suspended or limited mail service to the USA. The algorithm for generating assignments is taking this list into account, so if you live in a country that won't mail to the US right now, you won't be assigned any US recipients. I have run several tests to make sure it's still possible to generate assignments while still honoring everyone's mailing preferences, and it's coming out just fine. The unfortunate effect is that the exchange has kinda de-facto been split into two exchanges. US people exchanging with US people, and non-US people exchanging with non-US people. There is a little bit of cross-pollination, but not much. I'm hopeful that when Spring 2026 rolls around, we'll be back to a state of normal international mail again, because I rather enjoy sending to and receiving from other countries. But I'm confident we'll still have a good time, it's always fun to share work and see that of others.

Tomorrow is the last day to sign up, I'll shut the form off somewhere in the neighborhood of 5pm mountain time. Come join us!

Yeah, I've been keeping a really close eye on both USA tariffs causing numerous countries to suspend mail service to the US, as well as the Canada Post strike, and have adjusted accordingly. We're moving forward!
