Hi folks,

I know there's a CF-29 made for later model cameras (FM3A etc), but is there one capable of housing an F2AS/dp12/any lens at all/MD-2 motor drive with battery?

The CF-28 looks wrong, and made for the FE.

Thanks APUG Nikon brothers and sisters

Happy New Year,
AD

Indeed, research so far agrees no such thing has ever been made. Thanks for the feedback elekm.

Because they were "never ready" was the reason they never manufactured them.

I like the camera cover/straps on these cases, but agree the flappy lens/body covers are... Intrusive and dangly. It's that piece that says "wait, wait! I missed it..." The most.

I bought my first 35mm camera, a Nikon F with the plain pentaprism, when I was stationed in the Army in Turkey. It was purchased with a "never-ready" case. Subsequently on my next two-year duty assignment in Japan the camera came with me in its eveready case on many trips around the southern island (Kyushu), as well as Honshu (the main Japanese island) and Shikoku. I had a motorcycle and took many trips with my Nikon F carried in its eveready case.

That case was very well suited to my use at the time. I didn't have any accessory lens, just the 50mm f/1.4 Nikkor lens, and there was no need to carry a shoulder bag. The eveready case protected my camera from dust and other weather conditions quite well. The front part of these cases can be detached from the base, which avoids the "dangly" aspect in actual use.

I think it's fashionable to dismiss those cases as "never-ready", but they definitely could serve a purpose and were widely used by other manufacturers, including Leica, etc.

Because Jim changing films quickly is a juggling act with an e.r.c. with any camera, but even more so with the loose back on the Nikon F whose erc front if detached from the bottom of the case is a big solid lump of leather that won't go in your pocket, which is probably why I have never seen any pro photographer ever use one.

An old thread- but no, such a case was not made for the F2. The CH-11 was made for the F2S, F2SB, or F2AS with DS Servo-Motor, Nikon made a case for the F3 with MD-4. But no such case for the F2 series.
