Canon call high speed synch (HSS) short duration flash quite different to a high shutter speed synch at full power and state all EOS cameras can use it.

interestingly while most battery powered hand held flash units can sync at 1/200 Canon still recommend 1/60 or slower for studio flash, inc portable units, however at their lower power end the flash duarion should be fine for 1/200

The EOS 1 had synch of 1/250 but some were only 1/90. It's also worth noting that many fashion shots are/were done with longer than normal lenses so perhaps at f4 or f5.6 with a 100mm lens or even a 120mm or 135mm on 35mm film. It's why Pentax made & sold 85mm, 105mm & 120mm lenses, and it was similar with other companies.

So instead you ___________________ to make your photos _________________ and because of that you had to ________________________ .

If I have enough light I would use something like f/11 but if not I tried to keep my aperture at f/5.6. Use tripod, push film, use high ISO but I rarely ever use aperture larger than than f/5.6.
