Extreme stand developing

Sorry to ask the question but what is the advantage of stand development compared to "normal" development?

Stand development is an ancient technique used to get some form of compensation.
It was used before compensating developers were developed.

Rodinal and some others are compensating developers.
They would see no benefit from stand development.

Using a stand technique with Rodinal would likely increase oveall density.
This would appear as blocking of highlights that would not be blocked if developed normally.

Funny, scale that one up and it looks remarkably like Jay Defer's GSD-10, which I have used. Not bad, but not remarkable either.

GSD-10 sounds so interesting that I mixed my first batch. Does anyone know the recommended volume per roll of 120?
