We went to this gallery, but it was 3 weeks ago that Simon Burch had his exibition. We came to see nice photos, but only a few dull paintings were on the wall.

Anyway - thanks for guidance and that you took the time

Sorry to hear that, I didn't post it in response to your question. Just a general announcement. I should have specified it only had a couple of days left.

I have actually only ever bought 1 print from another photographer, but I'm getting 2 of these, they really are beautiful (if bankruptingly expensive). Simon will have a book of these photographs published next year. Only around 35 images but they're incredible.

Hi everybody

Looks like this has been mentioned for the previous years, well, its back on this coming weekend 29/30 August 2009.
[URL="http://www.Peoples-Photography.com"/URL]
Anybody coming along, stop and say hello at place 349/350.
I'm new enough here - so would be nice to names and faces together.

As an aside, reading back on the messages here, not much mention has been made over the last year of other exhibitions going on. Everything quiet or nobody posting ??

Folks,

Apparently an exhibition in Kilmainham from the likes of Ervin Penn and others is either on tour or coming soon. Heard it was featured on Nationwide a few nights ago.
Anyone know of it or when is it ? I've searched both web and the IMMA website without success. Nationwide website also.

Anybody any clues ?

Jack Mallins is holding an exhibition called "Our vibrant world" which he will display his wildlife photography from across the world in the brightlife gallery in greystones from saturday until 4th of dec.
Jack is well now in the club scene for his nature photography and his wildlife photos from around the world are stunning to see.
Here is the bio for exhibition
"Jack who is an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society, has brought together a collection of images from the Arctic, Africa, India, Peruvian Amazon Ireland and Scandinavia, ranging from polar bears to insects. Originally from Northern Ireland, Jack has enjoyed success in many photographic competitions both at home and abroad."

Dropped in to this today. It's really great. I didn't get to study it in detail because I was being dragged around the place by my four-year old daughter. "Pictures are boring!" she announced loudly at one point.

Anyway it's got all the greats - Hine, Steiglitz, Arbus, Friedlander, Winogrand, Weegee, Strand - you get the idea.

A pal of mine had a spare ticket for the opening so I went along. I agree with you Hugh it's great. I just need more time to view it and I bought the book which I'll study in more detail before I return and view it at my leisure.

Behind schedule but I just read a great article by Aidan Dunne in Saturday's edition of The Irish Times on the New York Exhibition in the IMMA. You owe it to yourself to visit it.

A friend of mine studying in IADT Dun Laoghaire asked me to spread the word regarding an exhibition they are opening this Thursday night. here's a copy of their press release.

"Loose Threads” Exploring Personal Legacies

Photography Exhibition by IADT Students 2010

In an ever-changing Ireland people are becoming more and more interested in their heritage and personal legacy. An exciting exhibition put on by Year Two Photography students from IADT-Dun Laoghaire explores these legacies through a diverse collection of intriguing and highly creative images. From a collection of landscapes of a family’s favorite places to enigmatic images of teenage life the exhibition hints at an Ireland redefining itself.

The Exhibition can be seen at Moxie Studios, Pembroke Row, from Friday 30th April until Friday 7th May 11-7pm. Special launch night on Thursday, 29th April from 7pm."

Stephen Shore's Exhibition in the Douglas Hyde Gallery Trinity College

I went to the opening of the above exhibition which included a lecture by the photographer himself. This man knew Ansel Adams although his work is totally different and most of it is in colour. If you're passing that way be sure and drop in.

Cheers

Fragments of Ireland Exhibition
I travelled to Cobh yesterday to visit the David Eisenlord exhibition 'Fragments of Ireland' in the Sirius Arts Centre and was most impressed. The photo's of familiar Irish scenes are lent a totally new impression as they are produced using the gum platinum process which lends an old world atmosphere to them. I was lucky to meet David himself and he explained the whole process to me. It was for me a most enjoyable visit and I can recommend it without reservation.

Best of luck with that Hugh.

I'd say it will be impressive judging by the link you provided there.
