Below are the details an exciting opportunity for Large Format photographers from near and far.

Raid Our Gallery
Sponsored by New England Large Format
Photography Collective
. If you want your Large Format photography to get the recognition it deserves then be one of 50 Notable photographers to donate 3 prints each to this Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center fundraiser.
. Each contributing photographer gets a numbered raffle ticket and guest pass.
. The other 100 tickets are sold for $175.00 each to art collectors, corporations and patrons of fine art photography.
. On Nov. 5, all the prints will be exhibited in Cancer Center Atrium while everyone enjoys champagne, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
. At the appointed time all the tickets will be placed in a drum, and the numbers called out. When your number is called you designate the print you would like and pick it up at the end of the evening. (It is recommended that during the cocktail hour you make a list of the images you prefer and make notes on the printed program you will receive.) At the end of the evening everyone with a ticket goes home with a work of art.
. Out of town photographers can view the images on our website, and make some choices to e-mail to an appointed proxy.
. This is a noble cause that will be widely publicized and will further the awareness of Large Format Photography while raising money for a very worthy cause. New England Large Format Photography Collective receives no monies, in fact we are absorbing some of the promotion costs.
. Submissions:
. All prints will go through the NELFPC selection committee set up for this specific Raid Our Gallery event..
. All submissions must have originated from film with a 4x5 or larger camera, and can be color or black and white.
. All submissions must be mounted and matted to 14”x18” with gallery neutral mat board. Please NO foam core. Larger images from ULF photographers will be accepted, but might not be glassed.
. All submissions should be titled, and signed by the maker. They should have identification on the reverse including media (platinum, silver gelatin, c-print, etc.)

Bump!!!!!
I will be participating in this project, and am hoping that a few of the other NE-APUG people will also participate. I will be sending out e-mails to ya in a couple of days.
This is a very worthy cause and a good way to get your name and work out to a group of people who actually spend money on photographs.

Glad to hear it Gene,

We are at about 35 LF photographers and the list of names is quite impressive. We have commitments from as far away as Texas and New Mexico.

Just today I received word that a legendary Connecticut talk radio show host has agreed to be our Master of Ceremonies come November 5th.

The event is becoming more impressive with each passing day.

Any Large Format photographer who is interested in more information is invited to e mail either Gene or myself for specific information.

Cheers !

Steve,

please add my name to the list of those sending work. I will not be able to attend but would like to donate my ticket and guest ticket to back to the "to be sold" tickets. email to follow.

Steve, Please add my name to the list of those who will be sending work. I will not be able to attend and would like to donate my ticket back to those that are to be sold. Please email me with the pertinant mailing information.

Will do!

Word Documents are being finalized and should be sent to those interested by week's end.

Submission deadline is September 15th. Additionally, we have formatted an 8.5x11 sheet which the artist will complete with his / her Exhibition History and Bio along with a provision for a picture of the artist and brief Artist Statement if you are so inclined.

Again thanks, Steve

Steve,

What a fantastic event! While not an LFer (yet!), I am right over the bridge from Middletown and will help spread the word to the locals and keep the buzz going.

Raid Our Gallery event to benefit Cancer Center

Greetings again,

We are at 45 LF photographers and closing in on 50. If any of you are interested the few remaining spots probably won't last long.

Cheers to those who have responded so far!

Another BUMP!

I hope that you have the required 50...or hope the remaining "thinking about it" will jump in! Presently I'm not able to get involved, but maybe another opportunity will present itself in the future.

Update

Greetings,

Several LF photogs have had to back out of the project with good reason. We are again at 45 LF photogs and would still like to reach 50.

Terrific project and wonderful company to be in, give it some thought.

Cheers! Steve Sherman

A wonderful time was had by everyone associated with this event. The turnout was beyond anyone’s wildest expectations and everyone went home with two prints. The styles of the photographers represented was about the most eclectic mix I’ve ever seen. There were color inkjet prints, tintypes and everything in between and the level of quality was very high.

It’s quite a privilege to be associated with a photographic endeavor which counts for something in a social sense. I was told that the initial estimate of the funds raised for the Cancer Center was upwards of $20,000.00. How often do we get the opportunity to say that a picture we took helped provide services to a family dealt one of life’s cruelest blows?

I know I speak for all the other participants in declaring our debt of gratitude to Steve Sherman, not only for promoting this event but for his ongoing efforts in support of large format photography in general. I hoist my glass to your very good health, Sir.

It was a real honor to participate in this event. I want to congratulate Steve on this great success and thank him for his vision and leadership. To the NELFPC members who worked tirelessly to make this event a success... congrats and thank you.
I had a wonderful time and came away with two excellent prints! :D

I can't help but feel that last night's event was a resounding success. Original estimates put the fundraising total at over 20K. I am proud of our humble group and all of you who donated prints. Thanks All!

Huge Success!

Greetings to everyone who has been involved and has also been following the progress of the Large Format Photographers who partnered with the Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center in Connecticut to raise over $20,000.00 in donations as a result of each photographer donating 3 different Large Format photographs.

LF photpgraphers representing 23 different states from Oregon to Florida and Louisiana to New Hampshire should be extraordinarily proud of their generosity and art works.

A few pix of the event!

Cheers!

An inspirational event by all acounts.

I was glad to a be a part of this event. The Cancer Center raised a lot of money for a good cause (covering patient costs not paid by their insurance), and large format photography got some welcome publicity.
Would I participate again? Absolutely, and I would urge others to do the same.

Please let me know when this comes around again.

Thanks Steve and to the rest of the group... I'm glad I was able to participate in this event, I wish I could of gone maybe next year... Maybe next year the event can triple the amount made, an auction might do that... but its always a good cause... Maybe we can do 4 a year for different things like Leukimia and other medical problems... I hope everyone has a great holiday...
