For sale today is an exceptional black Yashica TL Electro X M42 screw-mount fully manual SLR camera in collector-quality condition, with working and accurate light meter and stepless electronically-controlled metal Copal square shutter. This is the black (non ITS) version of this fine film camera, and it is hard to find an example of this in working condition, and you may never find one that is as cosmetically nice as this one is. This is a very pretty example of the best screw-mount SLR ever produced by Yashica.

The black enamel paint is bright and shiny, is free of scratches, and shows only a minimal amount of brassing around the strap lugs. The viewfinder is clear and bright, with only a few specks of internal dust, and includes a genuine Yashica rubber eyecup. The mirror and focus screen are clean and free of defects. The battery chamber is free of corrosion, and the camera will include a fresh 4SR44 silver-oxide battery. The foam light seals are in usable condition, and the camera shows no evidence of light leaks.

Included in the sale will be 3 Yashica lenses, as well as two third-party lenses, the original Yashica everready case, a JC Penney auto-thyristor bounce flash (in good working condition, the original user's manual, and a cable release.

The lenses include:

Auto Sears MC 35/2.8, in excellent condition, with front and rear caps and hard case.

Yashica Auto Yashinon DX 50/1.7 in excellent condition. This single-coated Tomioka-made beauty is, in my opinion, a perfect lens for black and white film photography. It is exceptionally sharp, even wide-open, and has wonderful smooth, creamy bokeh. Its image quality has been compared very favorably to that of the '60's era Summicron. If it weren't for some compatibility issues (mirror clearance at infinity on some non-Yashica bodies, most notably Pentax and Cosina-made cameras, and most DSLR bodies) this lens would be ranked among the finest M42 lenses - it is that good. With its deeply-recessed front element, I have never found a need to use a lens hood with this lens.

Yashica Auto Yashikor 35/2.8 in near-mint condition. This is an interesting single-coated lens with a somewhat murky provenance. The best way to describe it is a a 28mm lens that has been stretched to a 35mm length, possibly as a solution to the same mirror-clearance issues that I described on the DX 50/1.7, which was also an issue on the Yashica wide-angle lenses. This lens is quite uncommon, buut it has the same excellent build quaility and finish as the Yashinon DX and DS series lenses.

Hanimar Auto "S" 135/2.8 Another lens that I really don't have a lot of info on. It is quite well built, and includes front cap, and a built-in lens hood.

Yashica Auto Yashinon Zoom 1:5.6 90~190mm, f=5.6 This is an extremely well-built push-pull zoom and has provided some excellent results. It is all metal and quite heavy, but balances well on the sturdy Yashica bodies. The don't build them like this any more. This lens is like new.

Vivitar 2X teleconverter, with caps and case, in excellent condition.

Asking $220 for the whole kit and kaboodle, plus $18 shipping and insurance for US buyers. Shipping and insurance will be $30 for Canadian buyers, and $60 for all other countries that the USPS will allow me to ship to. Tarrif and any other additional costs will be at the buyer's expense. Payment by PayPal only, please. Please see the flickr sets that I will post below for example photos taken with this camera, and/or the lenses that I have described above.

I will take $180 for everything, if I substitute the black body and the DX 50/1.7 for an equally nice chrome body with a DS-M 50/1.7 (multicoated).

Tony, the DSM lens or the DX? I will sell the black body with the DX lens for $120 +shipping, or with the DSM for $110. If you are interested, send me a PM, and I will give you the shipping cost.
