Steinheil Culminar VL Munchen ("Munich"), 135mm f4.5 telephoto lens, chrome, manual diaphragm. Steinheil's version of the Tessar. Lens head unscrews and can be used as a short mount bellows lens using an Novoflex or other Exakta to Culminar adapter (not included). This Lens is often seen in Leica mount and occasionally in a shutter for 4x5 cameras.). Glass is great, barrel, exc, but filter ring has been slightly damaged, Good shooter. $45.
Schneider Tele Xenar. 135mm f4.5 telephoto, heavy chrome & black enamel over heavy brass, manual diaphragm, pretty! Schneider rear cap, generic front cap. A great example of quality lens making. No plastic here! $65

One of the prettiest Exakta mount lenses Ive seen: Brushed chrome & black finish (resembles late Angeniux or Topcon RE lenses.) Note: If you've never used an Exakta, they are probably more user friendly and versatile and downright interesting than most other vintage collector cameras. Lenses are available from makers including Angenieux, Zeiss, Schneider, Rodenstock, Steinheil. However, I never see camera sellers mention the condition of the curtains, and I rarely see anyone asking about them. It is not uncommon to find Exaktas with pin holed curtains. Curtains can be replaced, but it does raise the cost of the camera. The cost of replacing curtains may only be justified for an outstanding specimen. To check curtains, take the lens off, open the back, and hold the camera up to the light, you can see any pinholes if present. If the curtains are not pin holed, but are wrinkled, pinholes may be the next step. you may be able to daub on something to make them light tight, but it can affect shutter speeds. You can find good examples with smooth light tight curtains, but before buying an Exakta by mail. ask the seller to check the curtains for pinholes. A good example is a pleasure to use and can deliver great images.
