I started Photobackpacker with an announcement on APUG. It seems fitting to end it there as well. I am clearing my warehouse and everything at Photobackpacker.com is now listed at cost. I hope to take the website down by the end of January.

As I prepare to shut down the company, I am holding a blow-out Christmas sale. The regular torso lengh backpacks are gone. I have around 40 of the short torso length packs remaining. These will typically fit those who are 5'7" and shorter.

If you own a P1, p2, or p3 backpack, the slr/dslr enclosure is compatible with your pack. This is ideal for the slr systems as well as the medium format systems. It would also work for 4x5 field cameras. A Short Torso backpack with the SLR/DSLR enclosure is now $100. plus shipping.

I have over 20 orders so far this morning so stock is dwindling fast. Merry Christmas, APUG

I love the film holder case--I have ordered another of each size. The quality of construction is what you want. Unfortunately I have not shrunk enough, (even after three back surgeries), for the small torso backpack, but I bet it's a joy.

I spent most of today entering orders. I entered 40 and have another 50+ to enter (not counting the ones that just arrived). I thank all of you - no complaints. I shipped 5 orders. That, however, may lead to complaints.

I am setting a goal of shipping 20 orders per day. At that rate I should catch up by mid-week next week. I wish we could clear these faster but my customer service department (me), my warehouse crew (me), my shipping department (me) and my accounting staff (me) just seem to be dogging it a bit. I will talk to the boss (me) to see if he can get the production supervisor (me) to step it up a bit but he (me) is a curmudgeons old coot (me) so be happy for what you get.

I explored it with five different potential buyers over the last year. None of them went forward. You need to understand photography equipment, have some design skills, Asian sourcing skills, small business skills, initial investment funds, and have a heart for taking the risk. I never came across anyone with the right brand of craziness.

It suits my 8x10" Gowland Pocket View very well, and I'm looking forward to my next excursion, which I hope won't be too far in the distant future, but may have to wait until the New Year. It's a shame to see such a product that has been so well perfected go out of production, but everyone's got to retire sometime, and I wish you the best in the next adventure!

I need to clear my warehouse by January 31. To accomplish that, I need to revise my previous statement. I will be accepting orders through January 15. The website will no longer accept orders after that date. This will give me time to fill the orders and clear the warehouse space.

I like photo backpacks that load from the top [a la Tamrac 750 or 752 Photo Backpacks] rather than having to lay the pack down and unzip the back panel. I am 5' 6" and somewhat short for my weight. Can you accommodate

• a Hasselblad with the 45 degree PME attached, and with 50mm, 80mm, 150mm, 250mm and 500mm lenses, 2X extender, backs, extension tubes, and filters? Toss in a Hasselblad SWC if space is available.
• 4"x5" Pacemaker Speed Graphic with several lenses and five or six Grafmatic backs?
• 4"x5" Graflex Model D with several lenses and five or six Grafmatic backs?
• Two Nikon SLRs with 28mm to 300mm AF zoom lenses and share a 20mm to 25mm AF zoom lens?

Also if you could also reduce my weight by 35 pounds and my age by 40 years, that would be greatly appreciated. I would be willing to pay more for those two requests.

I make only panel openers. Having said that, there are many on APUG who have worn LowePro, Tamrac, F64, etc and then tried the P3. They will tell you about the dramatic difference a true mountaineering suspension makes to cause your gear to feel lighter that it actually is.

As for the gear you have listed, you have 4 distinct kits. The SLR and Hasse would each warrant an SLR enclosure. The 4x5 kits - I will leave that up to you to configure. If you are carrying all of them at once, I will give you the name of a stable that sells mules.

I have what I think is a previous version of the LS-525-4, I bought for a 270mm on a Linhof board. While preparing for a trip, a few years ago, I discovered that it was a perfect fit for my Rolleiflex 3.5f. The dimensions seem to be the same as the older version (maybe Bruce can verify) and, at $8.00, if anyone is looking for a good way to protect their Rolleiflex, it may be a good solution.

I made an order and just got a few more cascade 4x5 film holders and the SLR enclosure. No you cannot carry 4 camera systems with the P3, but I can carry my M7 and a few lens with my 4x5 kit (a 90/150/240) without a problem. It is by far the best system I have found to hike into the field whether it is NYC or the woods. Get one now if you want to carry your gear most places. Best wishes on your retirement Bruce!

Are you sure? The dimensions are closer to the LS-525-4. The interior of mine doesn't fit a 6x6 lens board. The interior is about 4.25 x 4.25 x 6.25. Were any previous versions discontinued? I purchased it many years ago.

Ahhhh, Sorry. That is the old Genesis L6044 lens case. I scrapped all of these out along with all of the Genesis L4044 cases. My Chinese vendor thought I wouldn't notice it if he switched out the YKK zippers and sliders I paid for and used Chinese zippers and sliders. I was experiencing nealy 20% zipper failure in the field so I threw them all away. (An expensive $4000 lesson.)

Thanks for the information, Bruce. I guess I've been lucky, as I've had no zipper issues with mine. That version works perfectly, re-purposed as a Rollei case. I don't know if the new ones will suit that purpose...

PS- I couldn't resist the prices, so I ordered 4x5, and 5x7, cascade holders.

I ordered the pack and a bunch of other stuff, but he is unable to reduce my weight nor my age. May be if I order more from him ... I think I will drink some more holiday egg nog. Should I skip the egg and just have the nog??
