Last week I thought I'd developed a malfunction with my 80mm lens, which was not firing properly. But experimentation showed that it performs perfectly when mounted directly to the camera or when using my 32mm extension tube, but if I use my 8mm tube there are problems. I'm finding the shutter won't fire about 40% of the time unless I wiggle the spacer (which has the tiniest amount of play, no more than the 32mm). The mating surface of the part that winds the lens looks slightly worn but I'm guessing that has nothing to do with triggering the shutter.

These spacers are so inexpensive that I'm guessing they're not worth the labor cost of servicing. True or false? I'm considering just replacing it.

Thanks for the advice!

Probably worn out. Those little extension tubes saw a lot of use by wedding photographers. Is it a genuine Hassleblad piece.
