Having just received a ETRS (plastic version) I am having some problems.

For note I have also just received a EII 75mm lens from another source and it is this combination I am working with.

Okay here we go.

-Good batteries inserted (several tried) lamp lights up in finder when tested,

-Camera set for single shot,

-New film in back,

-Set shutter and aperture,

-Remove the darkslide and fire the shutter,

The mirror goes up but the shutter doesn't fire, until I give the lens a very very slight twist on the body?

But also then winding the crank on the film does not advance?

Seems like two different issues but trying to work out whether the body is the issue for both or I just have some very bad luck and each carry their own problems.

Any thoughts

Thank you, Stephen

To add..

With the twist the is no visable movement between the lens and the body, but the suggestion triggers the shutter.

I'm having that same problem, only it's an ETRS and a 75 PE. Not sure about the advance issues with mine. I've been testing without film, with the camera set for multi.

Okay now able to wind on the film, that was a user error and a silly one at that.

Regards to the shutter, if i take the back off and set to multiple I can wind on once and fire the shutter and repeat, the shutter is working say 3-4 times out of 5 and seems slightly better at faster speeds. The times it doesn't release the twist does the trick.

It is more the suggestion of movement than anything as the lens fits tight to the body with no slack.

Ya but is the whole mount moving slightly? I can't remember if it was the old ETR I had or a different body but the mount was just lose enough that it would shift. With mine it caused problems unmounting the body cap.

Thank you for the help.

I managed to take the camera to a shop that had three ETR range outfits (not where the lens came from). We tested my lens on four bodies including my own, on three the problem was present but oddly on one it seemed okay. We also tried all the other lenses on all the bodies again including my own and none displayed any issues. In the end we decided that the lens was at fault rather than the body.

I still have the lens so will continue to try and figure out where the problem lies but in the mean time I'll enjoy using the 50mm I picked up instead
