Well to be fair, your post below was a bit backhanded, especially when you consider this is a thread about opinions. Yes we all know lenses have the same basic features but not all of them feel the same to every person.

Because they have a focus ring and an aperture ring unlike any other lens out there?

What you essentially said here is “every other lens out there has a focusing ring and an aperture ring, you’re just an idiot if you think they feel different.” And that’s not the case, because if it is, then you yourself can be considered just as much an idiot for choosing the brand of camera you choose.

Does it matter to you how the camera fits in your hands, or how easy/difficult the lens rings are to manipulate when composing? What's your favorite combination of body and lens, and why?

I wish camera manufacturers would pay more attention to one-handed (right-handed) operation.

I am not sure what "Intentions" you actually had....... but i sort of thought you were just Asking/Discussing the Nikon lens layout. Perhaps somebody with legitimate concerns thought you were taking a cheap-shot.? I did not get the sense that you were doubting another member's "Veracity".
Perhaps this was just a simple misunderstanding.?...... i could be wrong.

Anyway.............. i guess the most important aspect, on a day to day basis, is the grip, or lack thereof.
Canon added a little grip.....was it called a Speed-Grip or Sport Grip..... to the battery cover of their A-Series Cameras. That small addition made a huge improvement IMHO.
My Minolta X-570 has a small bump-out in that area as well, but it is integral to the camera body.......not much at all, but it makes a big difference.
A member of APUG introduced me to......is it the Butter Grip.?
I dig those things.
