I have an Epson V750 scanner which is now close to two years old. It has seen fairly little usage over this 2 year span so I don't really think its suffering from wear and tear, but who knows. Here's my problem:

The scanner is introducing bands of uneven tone to the outer edges of my negatives. (two strips of 6x6CM black and white negatives in the Epson film holder) I have inverted the negatives and swapped them from one side of the film holder to the other and the banding effect changes sides when I do, so I know this is not marks on the negs - the scanner is introducing the artifacts. You can see a very conspicuous example of the problem in this image:

Its as if the light source (scanning bar) has developed some weaker points of lighting and the travel of the scanning lamp is dragging the weak marks along the bed, creating the marks (well, you know what I mean). I've filed a support ticket with Epson and am awaiting a response. In the meantime - any ideas? Anyone else encountered this problem? Thanks.

Paul

PS: Yes, I have cleaned the glass surfaces.
