I have been using subject scanner occasionally for several years with a MacBook Pro. It does a very adequate job for my workload level (small), however there is a glitch in the software that slows down the scanning process dramatically. As I open the program, click on the preview icon, click on scan I continually have to "bump" the curser to coax the action to start. If I do not move the curser, the requested function does not proceed.

I run the Epson software provided for the unit. It does not seem to matter whether I am scanning film, a slide or a document.....same problem with all. I have reloaded the software from Epson's website with the same results.

Can anyone offer a fix for this?

Has the 'glitch' always been present, or has it appeared after previously working correctly?

Have you checked Epson's website for updated versions of their software?

So you usually use the mouse cursor to click the Scan button, right? Do you have another mouse you could try?

Is their some other way to activate the scan, such as the Enter key, or some keystroke combination?

I had the same issue with my Epson scanner. There's a software update for EpsonScan that you can download from Epson's web site that will fix it.

Thanks Logan, I have visited the Epson site and emailed support for the fix. I did try all of this several years ago without results. I remember being surprised that a company of the caliber of Epson had no solution for my issues back then.

That glitch was taken care of with the newest update . You need to download "Epson Scan 2". I find the newer version of the software is a little more streamlined, faster, and that "bump" glitch is gone.

Before you make a jump to Epson Scan 2 be sure to understand what you are getting (well, not getting). It doesn't have ICE. Epson obviously doesn't plan to add that feature to its software.

Good news is that they've obviously made a deal with LaserSoft and you can download Silverfast SE 8 for your V600 for free. So, if you are not allergic to Silverfast this might be a better solution than Epson Scan 2.

Update here. I moved the Epson software to my trash, downloaded a driver from the Epson website (dated 2014) and the scanner works just like before.....needs the "bump" and does not properly scan a negative strip (especially 120 film). I have gone back to Epson's site and cannot locate "Epson Scan 2". Also, their site will not recognize an "Epson Scan 2" search.

Also, I had inquired their support. Their propose solution did not help. I am convinced their support team is not aware of this problem.

Can someone please offer specific instructions here or perhaps a website link to upload the more current driver?

I think you need to install and run the Epson Scan Common Updater v1.00. You can find it here:

https://epson.com/Support/Scanners/Perfection-Series/Epson-Perfection-V600-Photo/s/SPT_B11B198011

Select your operating system in the dropdown at the top of the page (I believe it will auto-detect your OS/version), then expand the 'Utilities' section and scroll down to EPSON Scan Common Updater v1.00. Click the '+' to expand the section and follow the download/installation directions.

Thanks Logan, I have installed the patch and the "bump" issue is gone, big help there. However, when I tried to scan two strips of 5 ea, of 35mm film, the thumbnail option only scanned one strip of 5 images. It completely ignores the second strip of 5 images. Can you help with that?

I run High Sierra, 10.13.16
Looks like the Epson site specifies that most recent driver suitable for that operating system version is the 2014 one.

FYI, further update.
After answering some questions on a related thread about scanning, I realized that my scanner is working well but had lost its ICE feature which allows digital removal of dust etc. I contacted Epson support via email (from their website) and they sent me a link to download Silverfast software. I have downloaded the software but have not gotten up to speed on operating it.
Here was there response: "Please be informed that this updated Epson Scan version does not include Digital ICE. As a solution, we are providing the SilverFast SE Scanner Software free of charge. This software includes iSRD®, an Infrared Dust and Scratch Removal tool that you can use in lieu of Digital ICE".

Sounds like Epson decided that the licence fees for incorporating ICE got too expensive for them!

My Epson V850Pro came "bundled' with Silverfast software... and have been provided with the occasional software update "free of charge".....and the most recent update was a week (or so) ago.
