Has anyone had any luck (the good kind!) with this combo? I had been using the V500 with XP w/o problems. I went to W7 and now have problems with wide banding (?) and images that are cut apart. Also, regardless of the original size (6X6, 645, 6X9), they usually show up as 645 sized. This is with b&w or color negative film. Prints seem to do OK. I have uninstalled/installed/updated drivers numerous times, with no positive results. I have switched USB ports on the tower, and tried connecting to the USB hub. Same problems. Had long contact with Epson and M'soft W7 techs. No help. Tried it on my laptop/W7, still no go. Tried changing the compatibility settings from Vista to XP. No joy there.
So, I downloaded a Vuescan trial program and that works. Am I SOL with Epsonscan, or what? Any help/input would really be appreciated.
Thanks,
Gerry

I had problems with my v500 cropping my negatives in arbitrary ways if I chose particular settings. For example, scanning my black and white negatives in color transparency mode to get better scans. However, I don't think the problem was specific to Windows 7. As I remember the problem started when I had Vista. However, 7 and Vista roughly have the same code. So, If you were moving from XP to 7 perhaps there is a more significant difference in the software.

Anyway, I could never get the scanner to stop cropping my negatives in strange ways. So, I did what you did. I got a copy of VueScan and I have been very happy with it. It allows me to select the exact area that I want to scan instead of it trying to detect the frames for me. It's a simple thing that all scanner software should do.
