Epson 4900 not avail

I ordered a new 4900 here in Mississauga on May 2, from Henry's, and they still can not tell me when it will arrive. I became frustrated with this and called Epson direct. After a fascinating "tour" of phone numbers, I wound up talking to the pro-graphics desk, which of course is in Long Beach, California. All they would say is "this printer is on back-order indefinitely". So I asked for the real story, I mean is there some critical component that has become suddenly unavailable, or some other crucial detail ?? Answer: "We are not able to give that information." So I asked where are these printers manufactured, and he was not allowed to tell me that either. When I asked, when was the last time a new 4900 was delivered anywhere in North America, it was the same. Note he did not say he did not know any of these things, he specifically said that he was not allowed to give that info.

I am currently researching Hewlett Packard printers for ink jet negatives.

I imagine they will be launching a new version soon. That's what it usually means when a product becomes unavailable.

The 4900's have been listed as 'out of stock' or 'back-ordered' for quite some time now.
Epson does not list them as available, and they haven't been offered through their refurb center for a while, either.

$879.00 is about the lowest price I've seen on [new] 3880's in a couple of years.

You know what, i had a brain cramp and got the printer confused with the scanner.

Just bought a used 4800, as good as new, 800 pages printed, with all 8 cartridges ~50% full, for ~500 euros (shipping included).

It's a great printer which I totally recommend!
