Interesting... I have the battery grip but it makes the camera so prohibitively heavy and bulky I cant't use it, being a small person with small hands. I also have a 630 which does not eat batteries, nor does my son's A2. I DO have use the EF50mm 1.4 USM IS lens and I also have the 17-40 L lens. So they could be causing a problems as well? If I kept the lenses off the bodies might that help? We'll see if the Juice battery pack works. If it does that will work for me.

The A2 eh? My EOS 5 / A2 was the absolute worst in terms of 2CR5 battery life. I could expect, if I was lucky, one day of shooting — nothing more than one or two rolls max in those days, then the top panel display would fade out to nothing and the battery would die. Infuriating is an understatement. It was replaced with the EOS 50E when constant niggling command dial repairs, and the display drIver fading out really, really grated. Problems with reliability of the A2 / EOS 5 were widely known and reported. The bloody thing went for $2 at a parts fair.

One thing that definitely can consume power from the 2CR5 battery but which is less of a problem with additional battery packs or the power drive boosters, is focusing the lens back and forth repeatedly from nearest to infinity without actually firing the shutter, or when the lens is hunting for focus in conditions beyond its capacity.
