Empty 120 spool Lanzarote

Massive long shot but does anyone know where I might obtain an empty 120 spool on the island of Lanzarote?

I've screwed up....brought a lovely Zeiss-Ikon folding 6x6 and some B&W film and forgot to check that there was an empty spool in the camera. Still can't believe I did this having used 120 film for coming up on 49 years and never made this mistake before.

If I had two rolls and no opportunity of finding an old spool, I'd burn one roll to at least get some shots.

I saw a store selling film and I think they also could develop film so they should have a lot of spare 120 spools. I think it was in one of the malls in Arrecife.

Yeah that's what I am thinking....I've got 3 rolls and whilst I am reluctant, I could waste one and use the spool.

It also depends upon how quickly you want it...?

Given enough time one might have one sent to you?

Or as brbo says, look in a mall for a film processors, who at the very least may have something that you can put your 'burn' film in until later when you can try and re-spool it?

Aguliver, I found one place that seems to sell films as well as "appearing" to do printing so it might be OK I have no idea how close it is to where you are nor how easy it is to get to

You are not alone; it happens to everyone sooner or later. Typically, you get one from a fellow MF shooter. In your case, ask where they sell film or where a portrait studio is located. If all fails, you need to bite the bullet and buy an extra film just for the spool. Mailing one to you would cost about the same.

You don't even have to waste the film. Have a piece of aluminium foil ready. In a windowless room at night, lights off on the other side of the door. Remove the film from the spool and roll it onto itself. Wrap in alu foil. Beware of dust.

Unfortunately there's no windowless room in the apartment I'm in. Aluminium foil I could easily buy.

Looking at discussions on other platforms it seems film photography isn't much of a thing on the island and there may be nowhere actually selling film. I've visited several times before and never come across anywhere selling or processing film. I think I shall sacrifice a roll of Kentmere 100, sadly.

Too bad, probably if anyone was going around or some photographer would be there (perhaps ask networks or labs like Carmencita?).

Even if there is no windowless rooms, we have thick plastic blinds in Spain "persianas" which are drawn at night. Back home they are satisfactory and then I use the bedsheets and duvet as a light bag. Has worked so far the few times I needed it!

Film is cheap, experiences not so much.

Yep...done....I've sacrificed a roll and have two more B&W rolls plus a roll of Phoenix II. Just feels a waste, and this is the first time I've made this mistake in nearly 49 years of using 120 film. I started aged four and didn't mess up then!

Usually, my film unloading regimen includes reflexively transferring those from the feed chamber to the take-up side, and closing the back thereafter....

I've purchased a couple of cameras that arrived without a takeup spool.

I think some sellers who are not photographers think they are doing a favour by removing old rubbish from the camera.

So it looks like the site I found which seemed to be on Lanzarote was using misleading pictures of film cassettes and I felt suggesting at the very least the possibility of film processing

I am trying to figure that out myself. The camera was "new to me" a few weeks ago and had a spool in it. I shot a test roll to be sure it was working and usually I'd simply leave the empty spool in there. I have no idea why I didn't. And I have no idea why I didn't check before packing the camera.

Actually, I do have an idea. I lost a friend of 26+ years on Tuesday last week and that's probably filling a good portion of my mind. I would have forgotten to pack sunglasses and a couple of essentials if my wife hadn't reminded me.

Yeah I expect I'll find the spool somewhere near where the camera was when I get back on Sunday.

I do think I was just not in a great frame of mind and made a silly mistake with a set of actions that I'd normally do pretty much automatically.
