Kodak is putting most of its film R&D in cinematic film. Some of that is trickling down to improved C-41 films (Ektar 100) and B&W film (TMY-2). But not E-6.
Fuji seems to be pretty quiet on C-41 and B&W front but managed to revive Velvia 50 and Provia 400 when earlier their earlier E-6 predecessor products had to be discontinued.
That should give us a clear indication of where their respective priorities lie.
E-6, apparently, requires lots of extremely expensive constituents. No question I'd rather be buying those in Yen than in Dollars right now. Whether that is a factor or not in Fuji's thinking - I do not know.
