My ektagraphic IIIa autofocus has suddenly started making an mild screech / grind type noise and runs continuously, it also doesn't focus. It's not a glass slide issue. Any suggestions? I know I can pick up another on fleabay, but I would rather just fix mine.

It's Likely the autofocus gear has loosened or cracked. You should be able to check it out by removing the bottom cover &
watching the AF work.

The only moving parts are the drive gear and lens. The gear is nylon & if it's cracked may not be repairable. I haven't found a glue that works on it.

Aye, it was falling apart at the touch. I found a helpful person who sells repair kits on ebay. It was a a pain and a half to take apart and put back together, but the new gear is installed.
